If I am talking to somone on AIM (without being directly connected), can I get the IP?
Stupid dhcp at school now, and buggy routers that crash! They should be punished!

I think you have to trace your IP through a gateway proxy and loop it back via their ISP. I think that if you bind WINS with your dial-up networking connection (or ethernet card), that will enable the proxy to function as a reverse DNS lookup, thus resolving their computer into an IP address.

You can direct connect and run netstat -n at the command prompt. I don't think there is a way otherwise.

i'm pretty sure you can't do that with AIM.

For the future, DynDNS.org is your friend.

Have darktech. The router dies all the time, and I don't know of software that will update an IP created through VPN automatically. And there's no way I'm going to have automated tasks turned on.
