I've got a SWBell DSL line, and would like to find the IP of my ISP's gateway so that I may ping them to maintain my IP address (as outlined at dslwebserver.com)... Forgive my ignorance, but how can I go about determining this?

Assuming Win98, and normal connection (no router).

Click on Start, Click on Run, type in WINIPCFG press OK, and Voila.

How about with Win2k and a Netgear RT314...? ^_^

Sorry, probably should've mentioned those details.

With the netgear...Start->Run->command, then type: tracert www.anandtech.com. Your gateway should be like the second IP you see, maybe the third. Check your IP first like JackMDS is saying, and if that numeber shows up your gateway should be the number after that. With my netgear though I never see my IP in traceroute, just the interior gateway IP, then the gateway on my ISPs side.

I am not familiar with the Netgear?s bolts and nuts, but Routers has a Main Screen that provides the IP number that the WAN is connected to.
