Finding a new Family Doctor

My wife and I are not happy with the family doctor we have under our insurance. We want to see a doctor that is open to natural healing/health, applied kinesiology, reflexology, etc. My parents have been seeing such a doctor but our insurance doesn't cover him. Our doctor just prescribes antibiotics as solutions.

So where do I start? Is there a directory service?

check the directory your insurance provides.

look for D.O.s, doctor of osteopathy. it is my understanding that they are into a more holistic understanding of the patient.

yes check your list and ask friends and family on who they use.

I switch doctors last year, my old doctors office didnt give enough attention to me unlike my new doctor, he goes through every detail about exams i take and the results.

Not always, but it's a start.

Ask around. Also, go to the local health store, yoga parlor, naturopath, etc and ask who they use.

Most insurances allow you to visit a new dr. to check them out. Good luck.

talk to friends or cowokers?

This is how we found our pediatrician. We talked to friends and co-workers. Also it helped that i was good friends with his son growing up in high school.

Some (all?) insurance companies have fancy websites which give the ability to search for medical providers based on your preferences. Give it a shot (if you can). Plus there's the "ask the coworkers" thing.
