Does anybody know where I can find a 6800 Ultra series card? Ive found about 30 of them but once I actually get to the site or read closer, it is revelaed that it is a 6800 GT. Even the main page of Anandtech under "Anands Picks" shows a link to a 6800 Ultra. When you get to the site, it's a damn GT.

I'm building a Intel Pentium 4 system (P4 3.4 Northwood) for my brother and he wants the 6800 Ultra since he's only had Nvidia GPU's in the past.

I also have to express myself to the people who saw the Doom 3 benchmarks and are hyped about the Nvidia GPUs being a faster. "I drop $400 on a video card and I expect it to be top notch for atleast a year at 1600x1200 with 4xAA and 16x AF". Unbeleivable, It's one game. If you want consistency like that, go buy an xbox.

Try here: PNY Ultra

Ship date shows 7/29 and lately PNY has been pumping out more Ultras than anyone else I've seen. If you really want one, I wouldn't wait to order it. The "buy now" link has a nasty habit of disappearing quickly for a few days when they get slammed with orders.

Thats right, its one game. One game with an engine that will be used to spawn dozens of other games. Suddenly, it doesn't seem like its one game anymore does it....

Even if my above statement wasn't completely plausable, and DoomIII was a one time deal, it is still one of the most highly anticipated games ever. Probably more so than Half Life 2 although the latter is nowhere in sight. All nvidia fans have a right to be pumped with the results of the benches. And ATI owners have a right to be dissappointed because I'm sure many of them are Doom fans and want to play it the best.

The same thing happened with Far Cry. ATI fans were pumped about how well it played on ATI hardware. The grass is just as green on both sides this time around.

Basically what I was saying is it's not that big of a deal. Some people are acting like they are losing points in life because of this. Let them all go out and buy 6800 Gt's for Doom 3, ATI has plenty of support and PLENTY of people working to resolve any differences like the doom 3 instance as far as frame rate is concerned. From past experiences, the next catalyst update will be sure to include something along the lines of "X%-X5 Increase in framerates in Doom 3" listed under driver changes/improvements.

If Half Life 2 comes along, and then the Unreal 3 engine comes along and they all run better on Nvidia hardware, especially their low end stuff, then I will eat my own words. (And from what I hear Unreal 3 Engine technology will in fact take MUCHO advantage of Nvidias ShaderModel 3.0 support).

Seeya guys!

I don't think I've heard of a GT yet that hasn't been able to OC to Ultra levels, if that's any comfort...

I know I am, and I just haven't pushed it any more... but no problems at 400/1100...

Exactly..Doom 3 engine, is going to be the corner stone of all future games. So its a wise move by Nvidia.
