Find Socket Type

I have a friend with a dell de051 that has an intel CeleronD 2.53ghz processor. How can we find out the socket type?

He sold a pentium 4 computer and bought this thinking it would be faster. However it is not. it has 1 gig of ram. the tasks he finds slower are loading thumbnails off of his hard drive, video editing. Does it make sense to upgrade his processor?

Thanks.

should tell you everything you need to know. plus, smack him for thinking a celeron of ANY package/speed would be faster than a P4....there's a reason they're cheaper.

edit: YES, upgrade the CPU. make sure he researches his system board and verifies the supported CPUs so he doesn't make another bonehead choice.

:) yup, this is for an older guy who is actually pretty cool. :) I don't know how many times i've had to explain to people that clock speed does not equal performance. "Huh, what do you mean this 2.4 core2 is faster than my 3ghz celeron?" lol
