Can't see inside a garage. If you only needed an address, then that's an easy way for thieves to do a quick check of what's in an area and worth looking into further. Could be an indication of what level of spending they could find inside the house too. If they changed it to needing a name and DOB now then that helps.

so this site was made specifically for thieves?

Is this information really private, after all? You're out driving the vehicles around in public.

This is pretty much the sole reason why I don't care if my license plate shows in pics on the interwebs.

I put in a bogus name, actual address, random date of birth, and it pulled up both my cars D:

I did the same thing friday, but it knows who you are by the address. I tried it, and yesterday happened to get my annual free credit reports. Trans Union and Experian both showed that Progressive ran a credit check on Friday, even though I never went all the way through the process to get a quote, and used a fake name.

Isn't that illegal? Don't they need your approval to run a credit check?

I don't think so. But if they do need permission, I'm sure it's buried somewhere in the small print on the quote page. Most insurance companies base your rate more on your credit rating, than on your driving history.

I was just pointing out that they are getting the information from vehicles registered to that address. So it's stands to reason they not only know the vehicles, but the name of who they are registered to, drivers license #, etc.
