I will donate $10 paypal non-cc to someone who can point me to a 'free' site template.
If ur real good and can 'lift' one off some other site, thats cool too. What i'm asking for is really
quite simple. JS, CGI, ok...

1) I want a site template alike this 'http://www.chromeless.org/' It doesn't have to use their 'chromeless' scripts...just a clean interface
with a click-on-something to open the page in a-main-window.
2) I want a login feature so i can update without having to get into ftp to add notes to a page. For example, like a journal/log feature that i can login and get authenticated, and add updates to...just text. Something like those online shout boxes but not anonymous. Update can only be done when authenticated. If u look at that chromeless.org page and click on 'download'...u can see it opens up
on right window and its scrolling. So for me, it would be something like 'journal'..and clicking on that opens up my online journal/diary in window. There needs to be a login box there so i can add instant updates to the journal. Makes sense?...
3) I can then add links to left navi bar for other stuff...

Whoever gives me the above gets the donation...all help and hints appreciated. Thanks!

i'm not asking someone to build me a web template.
i'm asking if someone can point me to where i can find it.
i've seen something similar to what i'm asking...just can't remember where.

i mean it basically feels like a forum where u gotta login to type in updates.
But in this case, its a 1 page thing...login, type, submit -> goes to main page.
once i find something similar, i can just rip that site and convert it to how i want it to be.

Search for it on Google. It's a template like Slashdot.org, and higly customizable. I have seen it run homepages too. Allows for logins and updates, archives and what not.
 

It's an overused, ugly-looking Content Management System. Along with PostNuke, they make up some of the most stupid-looking rarely-updated webpages on the Internet. If that's what you're looking for, fine, but a little HTML and CSS can go a long way. I really like those templates at OSWD.

if i could rip that chromeless.org site...replace color, logo...links..add a login box somewhere...that allows
instant update alike a shoutbox...thats it. Accomplished.

I tried downloading the entire site but somehow i couldn't get the links to work... :(

hmm...what about a login, update feature?...the prob with me is i hate having to ftp to update a page and upload.
i want to be able to do it dynamically via the site. Then i would do it much more often.

http://www.movabletype.org probably is what you're looking for, although it's a little powerful for what you need. But it can be made as simple or as expansive as you need. I have it running my site: here

100% free. http://www.movabletype.org. One side note; I've put tons of work into the design of the site - it's 100% XHTML 1.0 Strict compliant, so it doesn't really look like this out of the box. They have samples of their standard templates on the site.

Also, http://www.phpnuke.org/ is free. You might want to check that out, as it may be closer to what you're looking for.

that cutenews migt be it for the journal part...i have to look at it a bit
