My favorite final was my acute health care for nursing final.....5 credit, 2 semester class, the final for this semester was worth 40% of our grade :shocked: I managed an 84.5 on a final that covered approximately 50 chapters from 3 different fields of nursing.....other people were not so lucky I know more than a few who failed the test and because it was weighted so much, they failed the class....

So I agree with you, but I'm done now til Jan 3rd 😛

EDIT: and failing is anything less than a 2.5 or 70%

i need a 110 out of 160 to maintain the C i have in the class.

the only grade i can get in the class is a C, or a D.

cant moveup a letter grade.

Actually I had one last week on a friday night, she said the test would take 1.5 hours on average....i was done in 20 minutes :laugh:
 
Don't talk to me about finals, my head still hurts from the ones I took yesterday (one after another from 4:30 pm to 7:15pm and then from 7:20pm to 10:15pm) 🙁 When I was done I did not care how I did I was just glad it was over. But as in the case of the OP, these grades can only hurt my grade.(These were hard finals, the first one was for linear algebra which I currently have an A but after the final I am not sure what I 'd have in the end and the last one was Advanced Data Structures and Algorithm analysis....that one took me the whole 3 hours to finish)

Yea Finals suck.

Especially when they don't proper represent everything you learned throughout the entire semester. Most of my finals use a majority of questions from the last few chapters you just covered, but they're worth a huge chunk of your class grade.

I would rather have a quiz at the beginning of every class, and then tally that up as a final score for the semester.

Edit: and yeah, the only way my grade can move is down.
 
I remember when I took Retorical Analysis the day of the class the professor came in and told us that he was throwing out all the previous grades and our entire grade for the class with this one exam. Some people were seriously mad. I think I was at the time, but I ended up with an A on the final, so it worked out pretty well for me.
Turns out that was a prearranged thing they did every other semester. That entire class was designed to mess with your minds though. The first day of class we were assigned a 20 page paper analizing what ever was the next days headline story for the New York Times (this was in Houston) due that following Wednesday.
This was a required freshman course, and many years and several degrees later, I still consider it the hardest class I ever took.

And what sucks the most is that since it's the last few chapters, these are the parts that the professors rush into or don't cover at all because they want to "cover" everything that it's on the syllabus.

Finals suck...

Just be glad that the final you have to take is at least for the most part the material the professor taught. My chemistry professor seemed to teach a whole bunch of irrelevent nothing, because none of what he said really helps on our final.

I remember one semester I was signed up for Linear Algebra, and the first day of class we got the syllabus w/ grade breakdowns. Turns out the final was guaranteed to be a minimum of 70% of our grade, and up to 85%. I dropped the class after about a week 😛

Yea 3 tests in the class, first worth 20%, second worth 30% and final worth 40%....and a paper which was 10% BUT if you didnt get at least a 75% on the paper it counted as a zero...or if you had below a 70% in the class the paper counted as a zero....

This class really seems to weed out those nursing students who know what they are doing and those who have no clue....i was helped by the fact that I worked in a hospital therefore most of what was lectured I see or saw at some point in time at work....which helps tremedously...
