Adderall's a powerful drug. If you have ADHD, and if it happens to be a good match for you, then adderall may help you on an ongoing basis.

It works by plugging into a certain part of the brain, by making the chemistry in that part of the brain more "normal".

If your brain doesn't need that particular chemical, then it doesn't help.

It also has a lot of side effects, and is dangerous as anything. It usually requires an initial balancing period, where your brain is getting used to it - and some pretty strange things can happen. Sadly, it can take a few days to tell if it's fixing your brain or f*cking things up even more.

Go ahead, play around with it, I don't care - then go play in traffic, if that's your idea of fun.

I still remember the day I woke up with 3 hours of sleep or so, took one on the way to the shower, got out of the shower, it hadnt really registered that I already took my daily dose, so I took another, thinking it was the first. My roommate turned to me and asked "didnt you already take one before the shower?" Well, my eyes opened up fully for the first time that day as I suddenly remembered the trip from my bed to the shower (this was back in the dorms, I lived in a suite where the bathroon was 10 feet from the bedroom door). This was like a week after I got bumped from 10mg to 20mg. Oh, that day was interesting, to say the least. I was twitchy, pissed off, and rather energetic all day. I do remember beating the crap out of my wall just for the exercise. Thing is, that was bare knuckle on a cinderblock wall. The wall won.

I just went back on the drug, and there is about a week to 2 week adjustment period.

ODing on the stuff is like popping a couple of Yellow Jackets, you know the LEGAL speed truck drivers pop. Anyway, too little a dose, and all you feel is energetic with no real help for concentration, too much and you can wind up dead. This is a controlled substance, and if abused, it can lead to addiction, and when coming down from the addiction, you have withdrawals.

Adderall XR is what I am currently on, and I can tell you, I did have a major adjustment period, but now, I am evened out and doing fine.

I'm on regular Adderall 20mg, and I can go on and off it without problems. I can take it on Sunday through Thursday nights, not take it Friday or Saturday (I'm in college, and well, drinking just kinda happens sometimes), and not have any ill effects

I have been off of any behavior mod drugs for 11 years now.

Adderall was not really mainstream when I was taking ritilan.

Sounds like you have not, and are not abusing it, which is good. I just know what my Doc told me, abuse of this stuff can lead to addiction. But, you take it right, and you will be ok. Some people, like me, have to be brought off the drug slowly by reducing the dosage over time.

i have wanted to try this for so long but it seems to be an american thing... not many here have heard of it.

edit: what i mean to say is that not many students here have gotten into illegally taking/distrubting it.

Adderal is basically 4 different chemicals each with different half lives.

Dextroamphetamine Saccharate
Amphetamine Aspartate
Dextroamphetamine Sulfate
Amphetamine Sulfate USP

The result is a an even, smooth amount of stimulant in your blood stream.

The most promising ADHD med to me would be Concerta in extendend release.
But, I bet that is 3 years away.

I assume you are referring to me ^^^.

Anyway, I've never gotten addicted to anything... except maybe Starcraft, and I've been free and clean for 2 years now :) I dont doubt that abuse of Adderall can get you addicted, but in general, now that I'm used to 20mg, if I take 30mg or 40mg I'm fine. So, I know I've built up a little tolerance, but when I'm not in school and thus not on it, I dont feel any side effects. Adderall in generally will actually help calm me down. OTOH, that one day when I took 40mg for the first time, I was looking for a fight, just for the hell of it. Luckily, I realized it, and told my roommate he might want to be out of the room for the next 16 hours. Seeing me punching cinder blocks full force sort of convinced him ;) Luckily, I only broke one knuckle that day

Yeah, I was refferring to you. You are lucky, I have had friends who did become addicted, they were up to 80 mgs a day and would only get 2-3 hours sleep, get up and pop another 80 mgs. When they finally began coming off of it, they crashed hard.

u can get a prescription for ritalin ridiculously easy here in the states if you're a college student. Goto a health center, say you're feeling distracted and can't seem to focus. Then flip a coin, it's 50-50 whether or not u get xanex or ritalin. At least, that's my experience.

What a monkey.I've done 80 to 100 mg's in a day and all it did for me was give me a great buzz. Never snorted it though.

And the reason you're friends are saying how great it is is because when you take aderol you like it more and more... after you get off your high you feel so pathetic and tired and lazy... to the point where you crave another aderol. It can become addicting quite fast.

Trust me, I've watched it happen to three of my friends in high school... started with 1 pill a week, and got to one every day until they went broke. All three of them defended it to no end when they were on it... afterward they finally stopped taking them and told me how much it sucks when you don't have them, and that I shouldn't do it because its so addicting.

Seriously, it is not worth it. Just study. Aderol won't make you smarter, and very well could damage you. The reason people say its safe is because scientists do not yet know the negative effects of the drug.

Here's a source for those who don't believe me (I just picked this one of many):

"While amphetamines and other prescription drugs might help students focus in the long run, there might also be some long-term negative effects. Many amphetamines are addictive, and eventually the body will need to get rest. While long-term effect of taking these drugs when not needed medically is questionable, some students still turn to them as they desperately try to stay awake and study. Recent initiatives, including one spear-headed by Hillary Clinton, have set out to study the over-prescribing of drugs like Ritalin."

On a different note, I bet that there are 3 times as many perscriptions to the various ADHD medications than needed. We are becoming a society of the pill, one to make you concentrate, one to make you happy and one to make you sleep at night.

Bah. You are right. I ment Focalin in the same sort of extended release packaging as concerta.
Ritalin is a racemix compound. (compounds containing the same atoms in the same order, but one spirals one way and one spirals the otherway.)One compund is thought to have the "bad" side effects while the other is thought to have the "good" benefits. So, instead of takign 10mg of the racemix ritalin you can take 5mg of Focalin. This is the 5mg of the good stuff.
What they have not done yet is put the focalin in an extended release packaging the way ritalin is in concerta.

The people who get addicted to it are the people who do not suffer from ADHD or ADD. The people who take it for ADD/ADHD never get addicted to it. If you did you probably don't suffer from ADHD/ADD.

I've been on every single ADD drug there is. I never once got addicted to it nor did I want or crave more.

Yeah, well, the lack of sleep, upcoming exams (which caused the lack of sleep), and having just broken up with my girlfriend had me slightly pissed off to begin with. Especially the lack of sleep... if I dont get at least 4.5 hours a night, I'm not pleasant to be with most of the next day. I probably would have been punching the wall, anyway.

Glad to hear you are intentionally misusing prescription meds, though.
