Finally!

Unfortunately, whilst we would love to show you photographs of the event, the official photographer failed to grab any shots of the momentous occasion, the car was moving so quickly.

the engine in that thing is the most monsterous ive ever seen! 2 V8s side by side, sharing the same crank....turbo'd! W16!

i believe the reason for doing it is that they wanted something around 8 litres in size, but an 8litre V8 wouldnt rev as high as they liked, so they just doubled the number of cylinders instead giving half a litre each.

i think its got 4 turbo's......the original plan of 2 wouldnt of been ideal since the turbos would of been barn door sized and took far too long to spin up

i like how they give you a second key, which has the settings for the high speed run stored in it

so u use this key if u wanna go 400KPH or u use the normal key for 375KPH!.....

the difference is just so massive! instead of going 248.5mph, you can only go a meager 234!😀

The Koenigsegg's record did not last too long...

If you're taking delivery of a Veyron and want to replicate the feat,
you'll have an elaborate procedure to go through. Every owner will be supplied with a special second key, made from aluminium in best Bugatti lightweight tradition (originally it was going to be silver but it was deemed to be too heavy). With the car stationary, this key has to be inserted to the left of the driver's seat, down by the sill.

The words 'Top Speed' then appear on the facia and the car begins a series of safety checks on such things as tyre pressures. Once complete, the chassis squats to just 65mm above the road at the front and 70mm at the rear. From now on, the diffuser flaps remain closed and the angle of incidence of the rear aerofoil is minimised to reduce wind resistance. The final action of this high-speed mode is to disable all limiters (the car is otherwise limited to 375kph). Touch the brakes, however, and the car reverts to standard settings.

So when do they give one to Top Gear?

On another note, Top Gear needs to add about half a mile onto their runway. It's simply too damned short for any sort of speed run 😛

Loser photographer and/or advertising scheme.

High shutter speed around 1/500 second should be able to get some good picture. And, 1/1000 and up is more than fast enought to make the car look like it is standing still.

Two W8s, actually, not V8s.

If 2 turbos had been used instead of 4, each turbo would have received twice the amount of exhaust gas.
