Asked the CSR what promotions they had running for a "long time subscriber".

Added HBO for $4.95 for 6 months.

Got my internet service knocked down to $19.95 for 6 months.

I can live with that. 😀

Just call and ask. She mentioned the cable and the TV, I said "can I have both?" and she said "no problem".

it would cost me 30$ a month to upgrade to HDTV and get an HDTV-DVR (I have an HD projector) and I'm really thinking about it now that I've taken the plunge and am getting serious about getting EVERY law and order (original series) ever made...

They have a combo deal (HD programming + DVR) for $9.95 a month if you ask nicely.

edit- and you can pull the stuff off the DVR most of the time via firewire.

tell us the truth, you emailed her a pic of you in your assless chaps to score those discounts 😉

didn't you? 😛

best show ever

If there is any pay channel to have, HBO is it.

I had been bugging my dad for years to get it at his house. I finally just called Comcast and added it for him. Now he will be primed for Sopranos and Deadwood when they come back on (I bought him the DVD sets and he really liked them).

You old people sure are stubborn.

Season II is done. Season III starts in June, IIRC.

Damn I'd have to rent seasons I and II, I wonder if I'll like the show.

It kept me glued to my chair during its timeslot, the only other program to do that in the last couple years is BSG.

Busted.

I like how every time you show up here for an hour or two, assless chaps return to the ATOT vocabulary. 😀

Cool.

I finally messed around with pulling down Spiderman2 in HD and then burning it to disc. Takes quite a while, but it looks freaking great. 😎

is that HD + HD-DVR? my sis-in-law has HD + standard-DVR which doesn't seem ideal.

I wonder if things like TV shows on iTunes for download and Internet TV gaining ground are starting to scare cable companies into realizing they need to be a little more customer-friendly. Maybe I'll give this a shot too.
