Finally started using the Google Live widget.

Wish samsung had pushed that when the phone first activated, instead of all their kies crap and rotten storefront and overanimated weather.

I feel the same way. I mean I use the widget, but only because I have a blank screen all the way to the right so I figured why not but it's easy to swipe down the notification bar to see the top most card, or to swipe up from the home button so I never really use the widget.

Looks cool, but has shit for customization. And I really dislike how when I search for B&M stores/places I'm looking for on Google it randomly shows one and gives directions. I'm sure it can be disabled or something, but I can't figure out how. I also find the limiting selection of what it will display to be pretty puzzling.

I actually like that card as often times the place I search for is the place I end up going to.

I just got the big Note 2 Tmobile update and the widget & cards are customizable to a point. The idea is it automatically picks your most used items so you dont have to meddle with it.
Lets be honest, if you want full control theres already a CRAPLOAD of apps and widgets available.

I like it, but had to stop using it as I found it was always polling location, keeping the phone awake and using lots of battery. Is there any way around this?

Yea, turn it off. It's doing what it's supposed to do, that's how it works.
