the story of my overclocking craziness.

having built my computer out of the worst parts of o/cing. namely a ultra small slim micro atx yeong yang case, a 200watt power supply and a ECS motherboard with no voltage tweaks (not to mention it undervolts by about .05 volts), i was already at a disadvantage.

at first it started with a 1.6 willy oem which was well useless

so my first 1.6A a retail box one. ran 2.13 ghz default, but would crash in prime95 unless the case cover was off. it wasnt even hot at the time. So i sell it, and put in a 2ghz willy. 2ghz willy decides to overheat in a summer heatwave in socal.

OR SO I THOUGHT. i take it out and put in a new 1.6 retail willy that i got for $90. It still locks up. then one day no post. One of my generic dimms was dead.

So a new $105 1.6 A oem costa rica, comes from fs/ft forum. I put it in with the retail sink from the 1.6 retail willy. ROCK SOLID prime95. OH MY.

and its running it with integrated video, a 5400rpm drive, and ac 97 sound. deprived that 1.6a is

Try upping your vcore a bit. With 1.675 vcore I hit 2.4GHz without any problems at all.
I got 133fsb with mine on default (1.5v) vcore.

my board has no vcore adjustments, and no fsb above 133. this chip probably has potential. its running at 1.44 volts right now. prime95 full load was 47C. oh well, my board wont let it do anymore.

You may want to look at VR-zone's P4 NW volt mod article: http://www.vr-zone.com/guides/Intel/Northwoodmod/

well that just what my bios is reporting. a lot of boards, especially asus undervolt. i bet others have this same problem.
