Ya I got it through Netflix not to long ago. I didn't really care for it and never actually finished it because of the slow pace of the movie. I also watched "Green Zone" this weekend and wasn't to impressed with it either.

Movies pretty much all suck :p

At least 90% of them. And the Oscars have been way off the mark for a while now.

I have no interest in watching the Hurt Locker because I know it's going to suck...shouldn't be able to say that about a "best picture" winner.

It was vastly superior to anything else nominated. This should be obvious to the most brainless of viewers.

Unfortunately, this sentiment is not as universal on these pages as it is amongst seasoned film-goers. Oh well...no loss, really.

Yeah, I like believable movies like Harry Potter, Lord Of The Rings, and Twilight. If you are going to make a movie, make it realistic for gods sake.

Breaking News: "It's a Movie!"

(I didn't think it was fantastic, but I liked it.)

The difference is, in Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, etc. you know you are going to see something that is based in the fantastic. You know it isn't going to be realistic, and it isn't supposed to be.

With The Hurt Locker, it posits itself as based in reality, for a conflict that is currently ongoing. If this movie was made 50 years from now that would be one thing. To put a movie out like this now with such glaring errors makes it a terrible movie in my opinion.

I liked it for the action/thriller it was. I think it probably made my top 10 or 15 for that year. :hmm:

FYI guys, this is not a documentary in case that's what you thought going in.

Well yes it was the best of the three movies but none of the movies nominated were really that good at all. Avatar, District 9, and Hurt Locker, none were that great.

This movie billed itself as relistic. These "bomb squad guys" are apparently super snipers and better than the guys that they gt the rifle from and renegade front line infantry guys that hunt down guys and clear out buildings themselves riiiiiight. They did things in the movie NO other bomb squad guys would believeably do.

A Serious Man would have been my choice, followed closely by Inglourious Basterds.

This movie had Evangeline Lilly in it.
We need more movies like this.
It can have as many awards as it wants.
This x9000.

I thought it was a great movie. Not spectacular but pretty good. I liked The Green Zone better though.

What was so inaccurate about it? The one guy was a former Ranger I think. The black guy on the sniper rifle wasn't an infantry guy or sniper but it wasn't like it was a 1000 yd shot. What else did they do? I thought they were portrayed to be a pretty elite EOD team so likely had more combat training than others.

I liked District 9. Avatar is like a twizzler: it's decent, you've had it before and know what to expect. It doesn't blow your mind, but it doesn't really offend. Entertaining, at least.

Hurt Locker was a different piece of work altogether.

The reality of the action was not intended for the day-to-day work of these soldiers, it was, simply, talking about war can be addicting. The purpose was to be emotionally honest.

Further, I don't think the few bad apples (if that is how some will describe certain behavior/reactions) were meant to be wholly representative of the military, but as we all know, bad apples always have, and always will exist in this type of military (or any military, for that matter).

Yea the sniper scenario was esp stupid. retard takes position of the guy who got shot, doesn't bother relocating at all. they are possibly getting flanked, no one seems to care.

load of shiite really.

LOL. Now I need to see this movie. It sounds painfully stupid.

Not all war movies suck. I thought Jarhead was pretty cool. He spends the whole time training to be a sniper and he never gets to shoot his rifle.
