I had to change the batteries in my radio-controlled clock (sets to the NIST atomic clock in CO). When I reset it after replacing the batteries, it wouldn't sync up for the life of the damn thing.
It takes about a minute's worth of radio signals (@ 60Hz) for the clock to receive the proper time. However, it couldn't lock onto the signal for that long. I had to keep resetting it, but it finally synced up with the NIST time.
