I was quite excited to schedule a vacation to Mississippi to help them celebrate that achievement, until I saw how they measured it...

So really it's a just list of places that use the least protection to prevent the spread of easily avoidable STDs. I am shocked, SHOCKED, that they are all evangelical Christian strongholds (the entire South and Alaska). If only there were some clue as to why....

Jesus Red States, wrap it up

A very good argument could be made that the sluttiest states also have the highest minority group that tends to vote the other way (democrat). Throwing out Alaska, which has an absurdly small population, the numbers are in favor of that argument.

While yall have an aneurysm about the above, my point is very simple, not nearly enough evidence to draw any sort of reasonable conclusion. Damn sure not even close to enough to draw any sort of retarded bullshit political conclusion.

Is Louisiana an "evangelical Christian stronghold"? I live here and honestly don't know, I'm an atheist so I don't pay much attention to the loudmouths and am officially on the bike riders "no knock list" because I invite them in and engage them in "demonic" discussion, meaning I use facts and stuff.

Almost all the black folk I know are Baptists and almost all the white folk I know are true blue Catholics. I know it's anecdotal but still, I wouldn't consider us anywhere friggen near "bible belt" status, FFS we have Bourbon street bitches! Not only can we drink in bars, the bars put a bunch of plastic cups on the table near the exit so you can take your drink to go! I have had people look at me like I had 3 heads asking if I could have a go cup for my drink in other parts of the country and some of them you can't even buy booze on a sunday! Here in my town, of which it is full tilt Mardi Gras season btw, I can roll my ass out of bed at 8am, walk down the street, find a selection of open bars and get me a bloody mary with "a jungle in it" for breakfast.

If that's how the evangelicals roll, they ain't so bad in my book. I always figured they were the assholes on Bourbon with the megaphones telling the rest of us we're going to hell while everyone else fucks with them.

There sure is a conclusion you can make: they don't wrap it up. You're posing that a certain minority accounts for it, but the much more likely that it's spread out throughout all ethnicity

Mississippi is #1 in quite a few things. They just aren't too excited about making it known is all.

My brother goes to Ole Miss. I went down to hang out for a few days with him in Oxford. Its a nice little town, but damn casual racism is alive and well. Most of the racism was from idiotic frat brahs. Surprisingly, there was great eating down there. A guy named John Currence has a few restaurants in the town and they are top notch.

You can be slutty and STD free.

This frankly doesn't mean slutty,.. it means Mississippi is disease ridden.

I think we all know the reason that all of the sluttiest states are red: All those meaningless "virginity pledges" and opposition to sex education.

Nothing like being unprepared when passions run hot and heavy. But, hey, it's what Jesus would want.

Anyone who draws any kind of conclusion about "slutty" from the information from the cdc is a complete moron. The only thing the information proves is that STD's occur more frequently per capita. What causes that ('slutty' behavior, not using protection, weather as a factor, ignorance, poverty, customs etc) is not known nor even studied. Fail.

We don't need to draw any conclusions. All we need to do is observe that
deep-red states have higher rates of STDs than deep-blue states.

And what research do you have to support the conclusion that it corresponds to slutty behavior?? Further, without a specific breakdown of statistics based on politics, "red state" and "blue state" moniker for this is just stupid. How do you know all the "blue" leaning people in MS aren't the ones driving the STD stats?

Basically, complete fail, coming to conclusions not supported in any way by evidence.

And teen pregnancy and divorce rates..... GO SOUTH!

Assuming that's true, it still tells you nothing about the cause for that, and what parts of society are key drivers etc.

Why is political affiliation the most important metric in which to observe when comparing STD rates?

Ole Miss is pretty exclusive. I told them I was from Biloxi and they told me I should have gone to Southern Miss (they were right)

Ahhhh, so if you're a Democrat and live in a red state, you have tons of unprotected sex. So much, that you more than make up for all the goody-two-shoes Republican majority in the state. But, if you're a Democrat in a blue state, where you make up the majority, you don't engage in that type of behavior. Makes perfect sense.

Or maybe, just maybe, the correlation between "blue and red" and STD rates is unfounded, per the scientific method?

Again, you could just as easily claim that race is the determining factor but that would be kind of dickish wouldn't it?
