Finally! I have two working optical drives!

The NEC 40x CD-RW that came with my computer has been on the fritz lately (any burns above 16x would result in power calibration errors). So on Wednesday, I emailed Dell and had them send out a new burner...and they gave me a 48x LG drive (supposedly better, according to those in the GH forum) in its place! Also, I ordered a DVD-ROM drive from Newegg on Tuesday, and it got here today. Both drives arrived within an hour of each other...one from Airborne, the other from Fedex.

:)

Disc to disc copies are so much faster! No imaging the CD to my hard drive first. Also, I can finally watch DVDs with my Z560s providing the sound.

Shoulda got a DVD burner ;)
I wanted to, but it just makes me too nervous to think that I'll (hopefully) soon be able to do a DVD-to-DVD-R copy with no compression and no time-consuming configuration. I'm going to wait until multi-layer DVD-burners arrive. :)

I installed both CD-RW and DVD drives when I built my first-generation Athlon system three or four years ago.

Heh, yeah, but I've been living with only one optical drive...a limping-along NEC CD-RW drive. It feels good to be functional again. :)

Woot.

I've got a CDRW a DVD and a DVD RW in mine right now.

WHY? I had the DVD and CDRW installed when I put my DVD RW in and never bothered to take them out. :)
