So I had an interview yesterday with this newspaper and magazine distribution company and I got the job. The job was to be a part of their IT department doing a little bit of everything: help desk, desktop support, new roll-outs, system implementation, and system admin. The cool thing is they are pretty laid back and there's not a lot of red tape since its a privately owned company.

Shirt and slacks. Laid back in the sense people will not constantly be over my shoulder making sure I do whatever.

The best jobs are the ones where you get to do a little bit of everything. It's never a "daily grind" feeling and you have more leverage for raises since you do so much.

<-- jealous of get-to-do-everything-on-the-job people.

Hah! I suck worse! Even the fast food places turned me down...

No, I'll never get another job again either.

But congrats to you! Now go out there and spend beyond your means!

Thanks to everyone who offered congrats.

I honestly hate the fact retail stores and fast food joints look down on a college degree. Thinking how long is he/she going to stay and it would be a waste to train them. If they honestly took a look at the job market it could be in their best interest to hire a college grad.

One would think that they are a little more mature and less troublesome than someone in high school. Have you tried applying to Home Depot? I do know for a fact they prefer college grads. Personally I was going to apply if nothing came out of my interview.

Congrats Storm, I just landed a somewhat similar job lately, working at a small independant newspaper doing all of their computer stuff, network admin, sysadmin, programming, desktop stuff, etc. It's nice to not work for a huge corporation who doesn't give a crap about you. :)
