I have been looking for 9 months and only had one interview. I had planned on changing schools and moving tomorrow (weds) and got a call about a network job that opened. I went in for a interview this morning and it didnt even last 5 minutes. Im the new network administrator for a large church, 75+ workstations and 2 or 3 servers in addition to classrooms full of computers, and they are fixing to upgrade their networking stuff. It is 30-40 hours a week $10/hr which should go up in 90 days, which is great since I am a grad student. It is not the greatest pay but with the times like they are I am thankful to have a job. Plus this is my first non-contract non-self-employed computer based job, somethign steady for a change, and the experience will help drastically in the future.

$10 an hour?

Damn, I should consider myself lucky.

$10 pays bills a hell of a lot better than $0 does though.

They're getting off cheap, but, as pointed out above better than $0. Just keep your eyes open for bigger/better things. You can always skim off the collection basket if times get rough. ;)

I know all the computer guys at my church.

benefits: work at church (depending on your beliefs), people are generally nice.
drawbacks: pay stinks, getting money for licensing/upgrades is like pulling teeth, you inheirit everyone's computer problems. And beware of offering to build systems for people at church for $100 quick profit. The problems NEVER go away.

Congrats on getting back into the flow.

Wish I could find a new job. Unemployment is only paying me about $8.25/hr. If ya know of any network/desktop support positiosn in Milwaukee, WI, drop me a line. heh heh.
