Yeah, I think Conroe will be sweet, though I think it won't be quiet as good as some expectations.
I'm guessing something around 10% faster clock for clock compared to an Opteron/FX (dual core), just at a much lower cost, and available at faster base speeds. It appears to have lots of headroom too.
Just a warnng though - since this is your first built, I would not be surprised if you encounter some difficulties, new tech always has bugs and while this shouldn't prevent you from buying it, just be forewarned.
I doubt they were rigged, if that's what you mean. However, Conroe only exhibits superior performance in CPU-bound applications, meaning the performance difference will be negligible at higher gaming resolutions.Originally posted by: Smartazz

I really am having a tough decision whether or not to wait, I read on another site that Intel's benchmarks were very unfair, is this true?
This is all you have to worry about.I'm happy about that

No, they said the tests were on a computer that had windows xp optimized just for intel and they were tests that intel usually would have the upper hand in, again I heard this on a forum
Not with a 7900GT, I think.would a cpu make a huge diffrence when I have the resolution at 1280 by 1024?
