Finally got some

I've been wanting a set of clubs for some time, but I've spent what money I get on computers and things. Maybe I should get a cheap set from a thrift store and learn to play first.

Yeah, I kept putting the purchase off because there was always something else in the pipe. Just couldn't stand borrowing clubs anymore and I'm getting more opportunities to golf so had to bite the bullet. Besides, was never really setting a reference point to improve on because the clubs that I borrowed had too many variables for me to strive for consistency. Just starting small and will build in what I need. Irons are 6/8/PW/SW; Woods are #4 Hybrid w/Steel shaft, #5 Graphite shaft. I can't hit a driver(yet) so I'm holding off on that purchase until I get some decent loft and at least a little accuracy with the woods.

I just got my new muzzle brake in last week as well as sent my scope off for repair. I'll be sending my barrel in this week to get the muzzle brake attached, then picking up a new free float rail for it.

Betchya my driver sends them farther then yours 😛

Congrats on the clubs. Its always fun to get toys. 🙂

LOL, being that I statistically have a higher likelihood of twisting my ankle when getting out of bed and breaking my neck in the fall than I do making a hole-in-one I think I'll just look forward to enjoying being in the game 🙂.

Nice.

I take it that's an Alpha with an SK Fiber TT90. What shafts do you have in the irons?
Correct Sir;

Alpha head and SK Fiber TT90 shaft on the #5 Wood
Silver Diamond T5 heads and True Temper [Finest Quality] shafts on the irons.
Lamkin Torsion Control grips on all.

I've borrowed a number of name brand clubs from friends and Pro Shops and these without a doubt are the best feeling clubs I've held (I'm sure that proper 'fitting' can be credited for most of that feel). I'm not going to completely gush about them right now because I've yet to hit balls outside of my basement 'driving range' and I stand to lose at least a little of the enchantment when I put them to real use but I'm pleased with the purchase. I look forward to learning my range and getting to a point where it's time to consider the next club to add.

*So, the components that I bought (for better or worse), what's good to know about them? Good product or snake oil?

Taken'em out for some range work tomorrow and nine on Friday after work.

Thanks!

The stuff you bought seems like decent components. I use SK Fiber and TT myself and know Alpha makes top quality stuff. Ultimately the "good product or snake oil" equation is solved on the course. If you like the clubs and can hit them then you're golden. If not then obviously there's a problem. As long as the clubs fit you, match your swing and are pleasing to the eye you should have no problem.

Awesome! I got a new set of irons about a month back; used Big Bertha 2004 model, they are much better than the POS irons I had before (Knockoff RX-Pros). The set has a 10 iron but no 3 iron, why doesn't any other maker include a 10 iron is beyond me.....
