So, after some tweaking and testing, I got my C0 920 to 191x21, or 4 Ghz. Earlier, I was trying it with the x19 multi(my chip doesnt like x20 apparently)and got up to 200x19, or 3.8 GHz. Unfortunately, this required some rather high QPI voltage, and I couldn't get BCLK above 200, which was probably a board limitation.

Then, I read that the gigabyte bios has a forced turbo mode, in effect making a 21x multi.

This helped alot, as I can now get to 4 GHz and still have a lower QPI voltage. Unfortunately, getting from 3.8 to 4 GHz required about a .1V boost, up to 1.475 V in BIOS. even with LLC enabled though, it droops to about 1.44 V under load.

The good news is, it is now linx stable, and max temperature was 74 C on the hottest core, thanks to awesome lapped TRUE with its push pull awesomeness.

Idle seems a bit hi though, given my max temps, at around 38-41 C.

Anyhoo, how I did it:

Bios: F7
CPU: 21x191
RAM mulit: x6
191x6x2 = 1146 MHz DDR @ 7-7-7-21
Uncore multi: x16
Uncore freq: 3056 MHz
HT is OFF
LLC is ON
Power saving features OFF
VCore: 1.475
QPI VTT: 1.380 (may be able to lower this later)

Anyways, this will do until I get my D0.

I will post back with bench's and MB pics soon.

Congrats! I was never able to get my C0 up to 4GHz. Had to get a D0 for that.

gratz!

mine d0 did a 4 with 1.33 V @ 75 C with a unlapped TRUE (damn it I missed the train on this one...) in push pull with a delta 120 * 38 100 CFM monster

my c0 hit a cliff at 172 bclk. I was not willing to push the vcore into 1.4 territory so I gave up.

my d0 works much better at 195blck now.

The temp on the do is actually higher than the temp of the co, though (if I run them at the same voltage and clock).

Nice results OP. My C0 seems to like the x19 multi as well but I'm stuck at a BCLK of 206. I didn't know the Gigabyte boards have a forced turbo mode. May have to try that out and turn off HT and see if I can hit 4Ghz.

When the turbo mode is locked, can you still enable EIST and C1E? Also, is the multi locked for all four cores using turbo mode?

gonna water?

Welcome to the 4ghz club.

You need to graduate 4.2ghz.. then 4.4ghz next. :p

Im currently stuck in the 4.6ghz club room... need a stronger chiller to graduate from that place to 5ghz territory. :X

turning off the turbo thing let me get to 4.0 on a d0 tonight... very odd that eist is turned off, but it still drops the multi... at least it doesn't push itself to 21 from 20 anymore... 200x20... 1.3 v... 75c max with a zen 120... got over 20k 3dmarks with a stock $150 ar msi 4890... these things are pretty fast...

Got my C0 to 4GHz with a 19 mult, 211 BCLK, CPU 1.35v, QPI\VTT 1.335v, all other settings stock with HT enabled. Core temps are in the High 60's under load with a TRUE heatsink on a Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R mobo.
Anything more than 4 GHz is going to require more voltage than I feel comfortable with 24\7, but I'm quite content with a 1.2 GHz oc.
I'm also pleased with this cheap Crucial ram kit OC'd to 1688MHz from 1066 at 1.5v.

im working on him on this. now that my GF has a full time job i will have the money for a loop again soon as i start saving up again, so i might be able to help him on that as well, even if just for a day lol. will have to wait until christmas sometime though, im putting $500 away now for a copy of win7 pro and a next gen GPU for 1920x1200 once they come out. im aiming at the price/performance range of where the GTX285 is now, only on next gen hardware. going to wait until at least 2 players have their hardware on the market and the price wars start before buying, should work out whatever kinks in the first release product there are and i will get a better price than buying on the day the first player gets their stuff out. im happy with my 4.2GHz for now, though i might be able to get 4.3 at about 1.4v, which im not really as comfortable with just yet, given my cooler slowly heats up until the system's thermal safeguard kicks in when linpack testing 4.2 (running 2 low CFM yates in push/pull), and at 4.3ghz i will hit my coolers limit under OCCT as well if i increase the voltages to that point.

ed: now to find someone willing to buy it off me so i can get an i7 instead LOL

Thanks for the tip about permanent Turbo mode on the Gigabyte boards OP. I turned HT off and with the same vcore was able to hit 4.0GHz (191x21) with my C0.

lol 4ghz i7 running starcraft. I remember my 400mhz celeron playing that game smoothly. Congrats

@ darkhart: I believe I set my CPU PLL just a few notches up from stock, am not sure if it really helped, but I heard it can increase stability at high frequency's, so I figured a bit of extra voltage on it cant hurt. Honestly, I think it is the high Vcore that made the most difference.

Again, hoping to get a D0 soon so I can get higher with less Vcore.

I had a C0 that would hit 4GHz easily with HT OFF but turning it on made the limit about 3.8. (940). I ran tests and found the system was faster with HT ON at 3.8 vs. 4.0GHz with HT OFF. It depends on your application(s). For most gaming 4GHz will be faster.

Shmee plays Quake Wars competitively, so other than teamspeak or vent, he never has much anything else open while playing. unless he is playing something like SupCom he's gonna be better with it off lol

A high airflow scythe fan(110 CFM) for push, and a high speed yate loon for pull.
