Just running WoW at the moment and im getting 38-60 fps depending where i am. Average around 50 most of the time. I do have all the candy turned on.

As for the x1800xt....you can hear the fan going but nothing like how it is on start up. Im not to much a stickler on fan noise since i always have winamp running 24/7.

I do miss having the extra connections since i did have my xbox 360 connected to the 2405 however......the size makes up for it. I just put the 360 to my plasma for the time being. I will be looking into ways of somehow getting the 360 to play on the 30" though.

That makes the 2405 look PUNY.

I have the 2005 right now, but will be upgrading to the 2405. I think thats all I want, it has the inputs I want as well its got the real estate and resolution that I'm looking for.
Not to mention its at the upper limits of what I'm willing to spend.

The 30inch is getting a bit close to a TV for my taste.
Instead of that, I might have just gone for a large 1080HDTV and used that.

I was going to do that but my daughter made a fit when i asked for her screen.

give her a lesson in utilitarianism 😛

Anyways, I feel like my e-penis has shrunk. Oh well *hugs component video adapters*

i have a 2405 and cant believw how much bigger the 30" looks next to it.

hopefully in a few months time it'll drop a little in price and i can have both 😀

Interesting. That's a very high frame rate at 2560x1600 for a single card notwithstanding the x1800xt's top place in the ATI product line. Does WOW support that res natively or are you using a widescreen hack?

I've never run WOW on my 2405, so I have no idea how it scales to widescreen resolutions.

If you want a real challenge, why don't you download the F.E.A.R. demo, hack the res to 2560 x 1600 (instructions here) then run the included benchmark with everything maxed and soft shadows turned off? I think we'd all like to see your results.

The subject is of more than accademic interest to me since my XFX 7800GTs will run dual DVI out. 😀

Wow does support it natively....didnt use any hack. Just chose the 2560x1600 widescreen option in the video setup.

Ill run the Fear demo tonight.

As for the XFX 7800gt.....there are like 3 different versions.....i had the ones that were black and lit up....sorta the extreme editions.

Have you watched movies on it yet? If so, how is it? And can you play a game at 1920x1200 with black borders around it and take a pic for us, to see how it would look?

Just a quick reminder.....Dual DVI out is not the same as Dual Link DVI. You need Dual Link DVI to run the 30" at its native resolution. Dual DVI simply means the card has 2 dvi outputs. Dual Link has more pin connectors to trasmit the extra data for higher resolutions.

Single Link DVI

Dual Link DVI

Thanks, but I think I'm good with my plain green 7800GTs. From bit-tech.net's Review of the XFX 7800GT:
The DVI ports can also be used together in dual link mode for high-resolution displays.
I'll be sure to confirm before I decide to anti up for the 30" though. In any case, I'm more likely to upgrade my CPU and MOBO first.

Sorry, but if that's what they said (I didn't spend enough time reading the review to find that phrase), they're wrong. You can't combine ports to make two single link DVI ports into one dual link DVI port using some cable or adapter. The card may have one single link and one dual link port, but to do what is suggested with the wording used in that phrase is simply not possible as far as I'm aware.

The ports on my model(s) of the XFX 7800GT aren't single link, they are dual DVI. Whether that means they can run in dual link DVI configuration is the pertinent question. The lack of standardized nomenclature in video graphics doesn't help. XFX describes the card as featuring:
Dual DVI Support--Able to drive the industry's largest and highest resolution flat-panel displays
Sounds like Dual Link DVI to me, but you can bet I'll confirm it before I purchase a 30" panel.
