Finally got & installed my Zalman VF700 Cu on my AGP 6600GT...I am unvelievably impressed by it!

how is the noise on the zalman? can you turn down the fan? if you make the fan inaudible at normal distance, how high is the temp then?

also, what's the difference between the LED Cu and plain Cu. Is it just the pretty light? It looks like the LED vrsion has a bigger "clam shell" thingy.

It comes with a molex to 3 pin adapter that lets you run it at either 12V (full speed) or 5V. You could also plug it into a motherboard controlled fan header and use Speedfan or something similar to control the fan. It's a bit loud for my tastes at 12V, but turned a bit down it's not bad at all.

The noise is less than the stock cooler it came with @12v, i haven't even bothered trying 5v (but i also have a fishtank next to the computer so i can't hear then fans over the top of the filters bubbling anyway :)).

Imo the LED one is identical except for the LED ;)

Very nice, dug.

lol, I had a 64 meg Ti4200 with a dieing heatsink/fan, so I looked on the FS/FT forums and found one of these babies for $20 shipped NIB. So I picked it up and I am likewise happy. It can do 330mhz on the core now! Ti4600+, baby! :D

Anyway, thought I would share that I have the same $20 cooler on a $20 video card :p

Lost the 5V thing though, which kind of sucks...

*What kind of farming do you do? I mean, the fences have to be for something, unless you are just keeping people out :)

Hehe, work on a broadacre cropping & sheep farm. Maybe 10,000 sheep core flock, and ~20,000 hectares ;)

I put the exact same cooler on my 6600GT AGP. My temps at stock were 55/80 (Yikes!). With the Zalman on 5v and the card overclocked to 592/1.2, the temps were 40/62! Quite a nice change. I'm now selling the card, but this cooler is going on my 7800GT or X850XT (I haven't decided what I'm going to buy yet).

i should be able to easily clear 600 core if i get rivatuner, currently at 590/1145 with coolbits, and nothing looking like an artifact has come near me after hours of FEAR :D Mem should hit close to 1200 too i think

I just put the 700AlCu on my 800xt. my temps wen tfrom 45 idle, 72 load to about 33 idle, 60 load. that's with the fan plugged into 5v, spinning at what, 1300 rpm. Check out how much paste was on it from the factory!!!

Of course the thing still doesn't OC at all :| But oh well. Maybe it's the ram - I just don't feel like unsticking the ramsinks from my 9800 pro...

Zalman stuff is known for their quietness first, good cooling is but a byproduct - its a faint faint hum on the 12v setting and virtually silent on the 5v setting.
