And running (stfu about my cable management (or lack thereof) ;)): http://pics.bbzzdd.com/users/dug777/Running.JPG

It was an absolute bitch to install (well, trying to trim and fit the RAMsinks was as i didn't have any tools other than pliers & scissors, a pair of tin snips or bolt cutters would have made that easy :p) but the proof of its value is in the temps :D

With the stock cooler:

Idle 62'C (it is 37'C atm outside & no AC) Load ~87'C

With the Zalman (12v connector, i've a fishtank next to the computer so i can't really hear the fan & its quieter @12v than the stock cooler was anyway :p):

Idle 53'C Load 62'C OMGWTFBBQAWALLABY!!!!!!!!!!!!

So as you can imagine i am extremely pleased with it

Clocks at 581/1145 (just what it autodetected to, i'm sure i have more headroom than that :D)

That looks hot. Unfortunately the dual-slot thing makes this not an option for my 6800GT, as I have an HDTV tuner sitting ~2mm away from it. ;)

I'm happy enough with my now-lower-than-100°C load temps after redoing the stock HSF with AS5 :p

I see you got the All Cu version. I had the AlCu on my 9800 before it toasted, and I was quite happy with the temps. 480/400 wasn't anything to frown at.

ROFL

i was wondering if anyone would notice them :D

i messed up trimming them so i just stuck them on the PSU. My fingers are a bit messed up because i've spent the last few weeks fencing on the farm.

Nice. I almost went with the zalman, but I decided to go with the NV silencer on my 7800gt. Its definitely quiet. You can put the fan speed to 25% or 100% and you wont hear any sound difference.

I run it at 25% fan speed in windows. It pretty much idles at the same temp my stock cooler did at 25% speed. But I have it set to go to 80% in games, so my load temp stays at around 48-50C or so. Its kewl.

I also like how it takes hot air and pushes it out of the case, where as the zalman just sorta spins it around. That was my deciding factor. :p Its hard to tell if my case temps are lower yet, because I just installed the NV last night. I havnt done a huge 2-3 hour gaming load on it yet.

i didn't have that choice with an AGP 6600GT ;)

But my Zalman can go on just about any graphics card i get in the future too, that was part of what persuaded me to get it :D Plus my case is well ventialated anywho...

Yup zalman rocks! I have the VF700-CU LED on my 7800GT, and the CNPS9500 on my CPU. Although as much as I love zalman, I absolutely hate the CNPS9500. It keeps the CPU crazy cool, but it's almost impossible to install. I threaded two screws trying to get it in, I got about 4 deep cuts on my fingers, and I had to do it twice because I took so long the first time the THermal Interface Material started to dry up. Unfortunately I think I'll have to reseat it with AS5 (I used the included zalman stuff) in order to get the full effect of it (and the GPU one too).

hehe, i don't run with the side of the case off, & my two exhaust & one intake fans keep my system temps fine, so i'm not fussed ;)

You could have left the ramsinks off the front of the card, but extra cooling is never a bad thing.

EDIT: Also, try moving your PCI cards down a slot each, it'll give the Zalman more room to breathe and drop your temps even more.

Cheers for the advice, i might do that later today :)

I paid for the ramsinks, so i was damn well going to try & get them to fit ;)
