After a nearly obsessive search, I finally grabbed an X800 XT Platinum! Problem is I forgot what the step by step process is when installing a new video card.
My current 9700 pro was installed when I built my system over a year ago and I'm a little foggy on the steps and the order in which their done in to install the new card. I sure would appreciate someone jogging my memory on this. The card looks cool sitting on the desk, but I think it would be a lot better in the case.

Schadenfroh-

Thanks for the link, but it doesn't really detail where and when in the process the new card should actually be installed.

if you already have an ATI installation...
1)download ATIs cats 4.7
2)download DAOC, DVD decoder, and multimedia center (MMC)
3)uninstall (control panel) all ATI software
--shutdown-switch cards--DON'T install driver when autoprompted
4)install cats 4.7-reboot
5)install DAOC
6)install decoder (put ati cd in drive)
7)install MMC

The card is an MSI X800XT PE VIVO that has the TV-out/ DVI-I. As far as the drivers go, do I need anything other than the display drivers (either cat 4.7 or 4.9b/Doom3) and the Control Panel? I see the WDM Capture driver listed on ATI's site and I was wondering if I need this to use some of the functions of the new card? I know there is a CD in with the card but I'm not sure if I should use that for TV/VIVO functions of this specific card or just use all ATI stuff. Can you mix the software like that?

The install went well, but left me with a couple of questions. I now get a" new hardware found" wizard at each startup. In device manager there is a yellow exclaimation at "Other Devices" and there are two unknown devices listed under the Other Devices. I installed the ATI Catalyst 4.7's and the Control Panel, but I'm wondering if the unknown devices are the VIVO/ TV functions of the new card? If that is the case, what do I do? Do I need to use the install cd that came with the video card, and if so will this mess up the Cat 4.7 driver install I just did? Can just those drivers related to the VIVO and TV be pulled from the install cd without effecting anything else?

Also, I'm concerned about the connection of the power supply lead that is now going to the video cards molex connector. If that connector is not secured tightly what will likely happen? Say you didn't plug the molex in at all, what would the result be? Would the card work at all if the molex was not plugged in?

Same thing happended to me after I installed my VisionTek X800XT PE. Should be an easy fix go to ATI's website and if you haven't already download just the WDM Capture driver 4.29MB. Install this reboot and then your device manager should no longer show those yellow !'s And yes the WDM Capture Driver is for
All-In-Wonder & VIVO products.

Now as far as the molex not being on "all the way" ? Sometimes you'll hear a faint clicking noise when the molex is seated firmly in the female connector. I always just press that sucker in there till it won't move any further!

I must say I've never tried running a card that requires a power connection without it. I'd be kind of nervous thou especially since it took me more than a month to get this X800XT PE and when I did it was pure luck!
