I graduated in December '09 with a BS in MIS. After working at UPRR for a few years as an IT intern there, another internship opened up at a local utility in which my father worked for 30-some years. They just hired me today and I start Monday as a "Programmer" supporting various enterprise systems (specifically coding in Java, SQL, SAS, VB, bash, COBOL, etc).

I have to say that after graduating with my bachelor's, the job market around here was pretty abysmal. At that point, I decided to enroll in a master's program so that I may continue to work as an intern or get a graduate assistantship. Everything has finally paid off.

Everyone drink a beer for me tonight! I will be consuming several.

Congrats! Lots of job threads lately (including me).

Go treat yourself to a nice bottle of single malt.

Obligatory location & pay?

Have your loan payments started yet? :)

Now you can actually pay them!

Where do you live man? I got my masters in IS a year ago and I've been beating off jobs with a stick, all in the near 100k range.

Congrats! I would love a programming job, but there is like nothing whatsoever having to do with programming around here. Even IT jobs in general are quite scarce.
