Well last night I changed to the jdlfg 1.1 ghz kernal and it seems to be much better.

I might try ChevyNo1's to see what that's like.

Welcome to the vicious circle of rooting. Every ROM offers different improvements over others. I'm currently using a Spanish Froyo ROM on my myTouch. Its the most stable one I have come across with a black status bar. By the end of the week I'll probably be running something different.

The thing I really like is that Google automatically backs up and reinstalls my apps for me now. I had a love/hate thing going with Titanium and now I don't have to mess with it.

This is true beyond words. Every time I get a ROM installed or updated and set up exactly how I like, a new one is there there.

Yeah, I am sure every few weeks I will mess around with a new ROM. It's just fun to play around with them and see the pros/cons of each :)

I'm happy with Sapphire so far. I need to get a new SD card though. This one is super flaky and sometimes I can flash with SPrecovery, sometimes I can't. I can't use clockworkmod recovery at all, it just locks up and reboots the phone after a few seconds. Other than that though, the card works fine when I'm actually booted into the OS. If I stick in an old 4gb card from my Blackberry, no problems at all flashing with sprecovery or clockworkmod.

Go with Amon-Ra's recovery. Clockwork gave me fits too. Amon does a lot more and is more stable. It doesn't work with ROM manager though, which is fine because that gave me fits as well.

Amon Ra isn't open source. And if your SD card is dying, then it will eventually affect a lot more than just flashing recovery images. Replace it.

I didn't know Clockwork was open source?

I totally agree with you though. I forgot all about the part where he was saying his SD was wigging out. Oopsie. Lack of short term memory FTL!

i didn't. you dont really need to wipe as long as youre not changing os versions. froyo to froyo is fine most of the time. also once youre on froyo it'll reinstall your apps automatically.

Speaking as a total noob to the smartphone world who just got a Droid 3 days ago... I got BB 0.4 set up without a hitch. I used this themed version which has a nice blue-themed UI. Nice and stable. Replaced the kernel with ChevyNo1 1.1GHz LV and it's running smooth.

Good to know. I was thinking about not going to Lithium for a while. I'm seeing some folks reporting some weird issues. They'll work it out, but I'll wait.
Right now I am just swapping ROM's to try different themes.
BTW-What is a good kernel?

Yeah, I love ChevyNo1 kernel's. I had that while running BB.04.
I switched to one of jrummy's for the hell of it.

quick note: ALWAYS WIPE!

If you run A2SD and use Google's backup service, the only thing you will loose is SMS's. 99% of the time people have issues with rooting or ROM's, its because they tried to save 30 seconds by skipping a step.
