No Metal Gear Solid 4?

It's dirt cheap now and definitely worth playing if only to see if you fall into the love or hate side. Doesn't matter if you haven't played all the previous games because the story is incredibly convoluted anyway.

Maybe 3D Dot Game Heroes (I haven't played it yet)?

And what about PSN games? I really enjoyed Pixel Junk Shooter, I'm sure others will have plenty of recommendations for other PSN exclusives.

Why don't you give the demos a try first? You might find out some of the games aren't up your alley without having to spend time and money.

I have PixelJunk Monsters and Shooter, they're decent but nothing to write home about. Granted, I haven't finished either. Like others, I really enjoyed Flower. Short of those, I'm not sure of what are some other great PSN only games. Maybe Fat Princess?

my thought is you're late. amazon had some dirt cheap sales for most of those titles over the last couple of weeks.

Yeah, I know. They'll be on sale again though either at Amazon or somewhere else.

Killzone will feel extremely slow if you play Black Ops. Cool campaign, interesting way they handle multiplayer, but yeah it feels really slow. They know it too, Killzone 3 is going to be faster. I didn't really like Resistance myself. If you've got Black Ops I don't think I'd even bother with Resistance.

Add NBA Jam to your list, child hood memories!

This, and I would remove LBP from the list :). I might be the only person the world that did not like LBP.

You should also try Flower. It's the one game on the PS3 that my wife will play.

You're definitely not the only one to hate LBP. The only redeeming part of LBP was all the user-made content that you could easily access. But beyond that, it was a terribly boring game with clunky platforming.

Didn't like flower. I beat it though, but I was so happy to finally finish it. A bit to artsy fartsy for me.

MGS4 will be REALLY hard to get into if you haven't at least played MGS1 and MGS2 before. And even then, MGS4 is pure fan service, and I don't expect many who weren't fans of the MGS series in the first place would enjoy it much.

I'll second 3D Dot Game Heroes and Pixel Junk Shooter. 3DGH is an excellent zelda clone that has its own unique charms. Buy it if you loved 2d zelda games. Pixel junk shooter is hard to explain, but just watch a video of it and you'll understand.

Did BO have a lot of cussing? Shows you how f**king jaded I am...

Ehehe. No kidding. Hell, it wasn't until a few years ago that they started using the f-word in games. Now you hear it just about every M-rated game. The first time I recalled hearing the F-word in a game was The Getaway for the PS2 (didn't care much for the game though). I was kinda shocked at the time to hear it in a game.

But yea, I don't even notice anymore.

Just ordered Uncharted 2: GOTY for $39.96 at Amazon so there's one down.

Starting with the second? Have you already played the first? Also, if you don't mind used, I recommend picking it up at GoHastings for about $26 and change shipped.

I still have my $75 credit with Amazon so I went with the GOTY version there.

Haven't played the first but I want to get to it as soon as I see a crazy good deal on it. Or I may just rent it.

Is there a reason you want the GOTY version? I looked it up and it doesn't seem to add any additional story, just some random skins and multiplayer for the first one. You can get the regular version at Amazon for $32 shipped from Amazon warehouse. $8 difference, not sure if it's worth a reorder for you.

Also, original Uncharted (used) for a bit under $15 shipped from GoHastings. Not sure if that falls under your definition of crazy good deal.

Not really. My $75 credit doesn't qualify with used purchases through Amazon.

Yeah, I saw that. It actually came out to be $10 and change for me shipped. Probably going to go with that vs renting.

Yea I didn't like Little Big Planet either.

Also, unless you just have to have a PS3 racer right now I'd wait because they still have tons to do to the game with updates and you already have a ton of other games on your list and GT5 isn't something you finish in a couple hours either.

Add me to list of people that didn't like LBP. I would however recommend Resident Evil 5. The game by itself is ok, but co-op with a friend is AWESOME!

RE5 is cross platform. I believe the OP is looking for PS3 exclusives.

I got in on that same deal for a PS3 and see Demon's Souls is 14.99 on Amazon, so it looks like I'll finally get to play that.

Eh I went through the whole game recently with a friend and wasn't that thrilled. I'd rather play Dynasty Warriors.

Most multi-console games are best on 360 anyway, since that's what most companies are developing for.

- Your wife might appreciate watching you play Heavy Rain. Along with Uncharted 2 you'll have one of the most cinematic games ever released.

- The best part of Resistance 2 is eight player online co-op (which was fantastic). Otherwise you may want to hold off for #3. R1's solo campaign was intense and satisfying however.

- Demon's Souls needs to be on the list

- I agree that you can skip LBP for the sequel since it uses all of the old user-created content.

I sold my arcade 360 with 20gb hard drive yesterday on c list for $170 and b ops for $40 so I'm going to microcenter today and getting a PS3. I really miss having a PS3. Sure the update's take forever but for some reason I really like it alot more then a 360.

First game on my list is LBP for sure, my daughter is 5 and she loves that game

LBP was not a good game.

Demon's Souls is either a love it or hate it type of game I believe. I thoroughly enjoyed it and played it to death. I know a few people who hate it because it is "hard". The learning curve is kind of steep and punishing, but once you get the hang of the game, it becomes pure fun.

Take your time, don't rush and the system will grow on you where you become less frustrated. It isn't hard in the sense where you have to get through stuff on sheer luck like some hard games. It is fair but unforgiving to those who are careless with their pacing.

To the OP: I forgot to recommend MLB: The Show. It's the best baseball series ever made, but you may as well wait a few months for the 2011 release.
