I've been using Firefox for years now. Last couple of months it has been crashing alot. Usually Adobe Flash making it freeze when watching youtube videos or using other websites with adobe flash.

So seems like the latest versions of Firefox has gone downhill. Sad...

Using Explorer now with no crashes.

I think this is the same problem as my wife has - use Flash 11.2 instead, it works fine. There are forum threads on mozillazine about it.

working fine for me, i like how people blame the browser when more than likely it is either an extension they are using or flash itself that is the culprit

if a browser doesn't work with flash, I don't care if it's Adobe's fault or Mozilla's fault, I am the end user getting all the trouble

The flash issue has been there for more than a month and it still is, infact, the moment I install flash, when it launches the welcome webpage to check if flash is installed, the browser crashes and I have to end firefox.exe using the task manager

I installed an update to flash later on (on a clean windows fresh installation) and the problem was still there so I dont know, at this day and age, something as simple as flash not working on a browser whomever's fault it is is a major let down in my books

Totally agree. I wont bother experimenting with other versions of flash. It should work with the latest. Not my problem if it does not. And I just move on to a browser that works for me.

ineed man, and by a huge margin that makes me not want to ever switch back to the slow / buggy Firefox (be it official or Beta, they've demolished the best browser)

Yeah, Firefox is not even in the same ballpark as Chrome! Everything opens instantly in Chrome!

IE is even slower than Firefox. No doubt which browser I will use from now on

my Chrome crashes 2-3 times a month due to flash content too so I'm guessing there's no safe browser that can avoid flash related issues.

yeah, don't use flash. There is a reason Apple didn't like it.

For now I'll stick to Chrome. I'm very happy with it. Won't bother trying anything else as long as it's stable and blazing fast!

me too. I tried Opera BTW and hated its interface it takes a while to get used to it and I hated its bookmark manager

Chrome FTW (this coming from a disappointed Firefox fanboy)

Well let me just show you a small glitch in Firefox, very simple one

go to http://www.station-drivers.com/page/intel chipset.htm

then quickly scroll up and down with your mouse wheel and notice how the screen flickers so bad

With Chrome this never happens

plus, haven't you noticed that chrome is at least double the speed when browsing? everything opens almost instantly

With Firefox, even on my 30 mbps connection it is slow as heck compared to Chrome

Well, I'm not doubting it is happening to you but I see no flickering or any other strange things happening at that website.
Firefox has had some issues in the past but seems to be running just fine for me. Don't think I'll switch anytime soon.
Good luck with Chrome.

Were I to leave FF, IE is the last browser I would use. Firefox still performs well on my system, no Flash issues, and the plethora of add-ins gives it the clear lead in usability. Find me something half as useful as Tab Mix Plus on Chrome or IE (or Safari, for that matter).

maybe it's just me but I found Tab Mix Plus annoying and too colorful for my likings

the only time I tried it was when I wanted to make Firefox not switch the focus to a new tab when I create it as I tend to open many tabs that I want to read later and dont want to immediately switch to them

Chrome by default doesn't switch to newly created tabs :)

That can be done under Tabs in Preferences.

I'm wondering when The_Golden_Man and berryracer will get to the point that they've tried all the major browsers, and when each one has developed a problem (regardless of how minor), they can't "move on to the next one" any more :)

"Damn, I'll have to buy a new computer now! Oh wait, maybe it's Windows's fault..."

I've moved over to chrome purely for the sync function. Firefox is still installed though :)

Firefox has sync function too...

Maybe need to try Chrome again but I just did not like the interface at all. Also auto-update used to just keep the old versions -> had to delete them manually. Annoying especially if you have roaming profiles like at work.

I don't know what the IT guys did to our security or firewall settings at work, but FF now will not accept any security certs from most common web sites, like MSN even, no matter what I do. I have even uninstalled and deleted my profiles. I hate my IT guys in Chicago. I don't have any problems in Chrome or IE 8 however. First time I have ever had a problem in FF in all these years.

I tried it too, no flickering here. Maybe it's your video driver?

Maybe it's luck but i haven't really had any major issues with FF and Flash either.

Not saying your wrong but I am honestly not noticing any flickering.

I'm trying this at the library and I get flickering on IE (they're using IE8), but not on Firefox (they're using Firefox 10.0). In IE, the 1-by-1 background black and white horizontal lines seem to mesh into 20-30 pixel high blocks of light and dark rectangles as I'm scrolling instead of 1-by-1 lines. In Firefox it works fine here though (it seems like IE tries to "cheat" when rendering the lines quickly, which doesn't work in this case and looks like bad flickering).
