Finally found the kink in my system

I've been trying for over a week to get my new system stable. At first, I thought it was my SBLive that was causing issues, then heat, then ACPI, etc.. Finally, a few days ago I decided to systematically go through all my hardware and remove/replace it to see if I could get my system to stop freezing/crashing. Eventually, I go to my Radeon LE - the culprit. With it not in my computer (my girlfriend's Asus GeForce MX in its place), I can honestly say that my computer is more stable than any I've used to date.

In the process of trying to discern what was giving me problems, I installed/reinstalled both Win98SE and Win2k Pro several times, so drivers were not an issue in this problem.

The Geforce will *not* work stabily in her current machine (HP), but works fine in all the computers I have. I'm thinking what I'm going to do is just give her my Radeon LE and see if I can get it to work stabily in her computer. If not I'll try to RMA it. Sound like a good plan?

Here's the list of hardware I have in my computer *now*:

Athlon 1Ghz ( 9.5 x 145 right now)
Soltek SL-75DRV (I'm quite impressed with this board in all aspects)
Crucial PC2100 256Ram
SB Live (Value w/ optical out)
Linksys LNE100TX
Plextor 8x4x32x
AOpen 6xDVD

Are you madly O/C'ing that Radeon? I have had nothing but good luck with them. Perhaps you got a bad/marginal one, or need to back off on it a bit?

If you updated its drivers, did you un-install the old ones first?

Maybe your machine is trying to tell you something. Maybe it wants a Geforce in it. ;)

;) Apparently. I'd *rather* have the Radeon in it though. I'll get back to you guys when I find out if it works fine in my girllfriend's computer.
