The MCDs near you pay 7.50/hr? When I worked at MCDs, I started at 5.75 and worked up to 6.40/hr. The main reason I quit was because the Mexican's were being hired at 7.85/hr, only worked one station and spoke little to no english.

What's the logic behind it?

Also, had to take a drug test and BG test today

What's that?

Background check, test, w/e.
Well, they just made me sign some papers and such, hope they don't confuse me with my dad.
(same names, different suffixes)

What did your dad do?

I am the "III"d, I seem to only be 2 years old when I started growing marijuana, man, that is weird!

As for the StarTek question, yes it is StarTek, but my sister's GF, who told me to go up there is in the $10.33 position (tech service rep., ISP customer service), somehow she passed the test, which I thought was fvcking hard for me even after I took networking in college while in HS...

You signed up for a job without knowing the benefits you will be getting?
Eh, I just needed a job.. It's not like I will be making a career out of it, just trying to get the parents off my back while saving for odds and ends.

I think they make Illinois' minimum wage rate, which is 7.50 now, still .50 over minimum wage is sort of nice, at least now I can look down at the McDonalds employees spitting in my requested liter of cola.

Good for you. Are you planning on going to college?

Probably just some community college courses, I took a networking class there while in HS and it was pretty fun/interesting. Of course there weren't too many nerds there, actually none, I was probably the smartest one there. (some pot smokers, some who didn't care, and of course didn't pass, and my African-American buddy, known since Junior in HS)

Sad thing is though, my mom still bitches at me, AFTER I loaded the dishwasher AND put the stuff away, FFS, get off my nuts.

Need to find a roommate or something. :p

Ramen noodles, and Crystal Light FTW!!!

My first job was also at a cell center. For Casio. Did technical support for cameras, watches, keyboards, PDAs. It was one of the more enjoyable jobs I've had, also one of the least paying.

Oy, how can people be happy with $8/hr?

I make $10/hr for doing almost nothing at my "job" with the IT dept here. (Student worker). Since no one ever seems to use the multimedia lab during my shifts I'm free to do homework/surf 95% of the time...

Working at a callcenter isnt that Bad.

My First CallCenter job was about 3 years ago, I moved to ireland and started working for Xerox providing support to the nordic countries. It was very enjoyable, and I do like suppoting corporations rather than home users.

Nowadays I'm workign at dell as a Enterprise (Server) Support Specialist. I still find techsupport enjoyable, but I wont make my whole career out of it but I figure, hey, I'll be working for 40 years+ 3 years techsupport isnt that bad so far. I'll be taking my MCSEs soon enough and after that, who know where i might end up.

So congrats to you, I hope you will enjoy the experience :)

Beats me, I didn't have anything to do with the hiring process.

The only other job I had (when I was 14) only paid 5.15 an hour and was like 5 hours a day, and I managed to get a computer that would run BF1942 :p The second year I got a 7.1 Onkyo system and got some new clothes and shoes for school. I would think 8 dollars would be a nice upgrade ^_^, and more hours :p
