So I'm finally finished putting together all my parts and I have just finished installing my drivers and such. I decided to check and see my temps for my CPU to see if there is a significant difference between my loop and other watercooling loops. The ambient temp in my room is around 73 degrees Farenheit, but the CPU is idling at around 30C. I am running Prime95 blend tests right now to see how high the temps go and it managed to reach 58C under 100% load. Now the question I wanted to ask, is this normal temps for a custom watercooled setup? Or could there be something wrong with the temps? I was looking forward to overclocking pretty high with this loop.

temps look fine but.

-quoting room temps with wc or air is misleading , what counts is the air temps going into air cooler or water temps.
-if you have a fan controller with temp. monitoring for 10 buck's you can monitor the water temp's.

-when you start pushing the ib clock's water cooling should be a lot cooler , but only if the water temps do not get too high.
-most posting on the net are not showing all that great for ib + high clock's and water , but no one is posting their water temps = useless postings .
-in other words if your water temps are 35c your going to get higher cpu temps than some one with 20c water temps [me]

I'd think that temps will climb slower on water compaired to air....But everything has it's limits!

A larger rad may be in your future possibly? Guess it would depend on your comfort zone for fully loaded temps and your overclocking goal.

@rgallant I am definitely thinking about getting a fan monitor for one of my 5.25" drive bays because there is a gap between my dualbay res and the CD drive which looks kind of weird. Do you have any recommendations on a monitor that also has the feature for adding that temp monitor you linked? Thanks!

@Kenmitch Yeah I guess that makes more sense for it to climb slower. I'm going to try reseating/reTIM-ing the water block when I get home from work. I have a feeling the thermal paste from the stock cooler I tried cleaning off didn't come off as much as it should have. I was using the only Isopropyl alcohol I could find (50%) :\ I'll run to the store and buy some 90+% isopropyl alcohol and re-do it.

I kind of regret not buying the 360 rad because I thought it wouldn't find in my case. Turns out I don't even need to remove the HUGE top fans to install the 240 rad so I have a semi-push/pull configuration going :D I'll probably end up switching out the 240 rad for a thicker and longer one.

I'll run some Prime blend tests and IBT and keep you guys posted on what my temps are after I reseat it. Once I feel comfortable with my setup, I'll start pushing the 3770k to it's limits :D

Nice rig Xeris.

Thanks man! I am going to be at a computer tech convention later this month and they're going to have some auctions. I am hoping to get a much better graphics card over there :D If not, I'll just have to buy it from the egg. I'm looking to keep on improving this baby.

My rig2 below just got a 680 GTX OUCH!!!!!!!!!!. You obviously put some serious $$ in that rig. Top it off with a "sweet" video card.

GTX680 is nice but it seems like its pointless to buy it ever since the GTX670 was released. Barely any difference in performance. If the 7970's drop below 450, I might consider buying one now and then one later on when they drop a bit more :D

I guess I kinda worded my comment in the wrong way.

It should have been more like I'd think under water temps would rise slower while overclocking than on air. As in the jump from stock > 4ghz > 4.5ghz etc.

Rad wise a thicker one would have been better as you shouldn't have any issue with space in the upper end of the HAF X.

Nice rig! It deserves a better GPU if your into gaming :)

Lol I understood what you meant by climb slower, no worries :D

Yeah there is a ton of space up at the top of the case. It's too bad my pump is at the bottom, where there is little space because of the power supply cover, so my pump is sitting on it's back. :\

I worked pretty damn hard on this rig so I'm hoping it lasts me for years to come. The SSD should arrive next week and the graphics card soon after!

http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=35026&vpn=KM02-BK&manufacture=Scythe#Specifications
-something like this
-just plug the water temp. sensor in , instead of one of the temp. probe that comes with the unit.
-also gives some rpm control of your rad fans[not the haf case fans] [120mm max. 1 amp],some people will use 1800's ++ to bench ,then turn them lower at other times.

higher watts for haf case fans if required .

Do you know if there is an extender for the fan connectors? I currently have them hooked up with molex power cables because the connectors are too damn short:mad: It would be impossible for me to route it to the front of the case without some sort of extender.
