After playing around with a few of the clients, ive decided to go with UD Cancer Research...

I now have it running on 2 of my rigs (Athlon 1.2 & K6-2 300), soon to be a more though. Ive asked my friends who have extra old computers laying around to donate them to myself so i can get them all running the client. I hope to have 6 or 7 total running by the end of the semester.

😀

Very cool aphexII 🙂

Beware the LRMs (Long Running Molecules) they can drive you bonkers! :Q

As an aside, and you probably already know this, beware terminating the UD client before it has completed the next percentage point update, especially with LRMs, or you will lose all the hours it took to achieve that next percentage point...unfortunately the client only does a state save after each percentage point....just trying to help in case you were not aware of this... 🙂

Thanks guys... Quick question, does leaving it on the screen where it shows the actual molecule slow it down at all?

Glad to have you working towards a great cause.

I would think that leaving the graphics on would slow it down as some processor power would have to go to rendering the graphics. With SETI the nongraphical client is twice as fast as the graphical one.

Yeah, just on system overhead in general keeping the graphic thingy going would seem to slow it down, but probably not enough to ever be concerned with 🙂

Unfortunately, there is no CLI version for this client that I know of, but there is a very nice one in ECCp (and SETI of course) hint hint lol 😀 😀 😀
