The last Zerg mission in Broodwars is a real nut-buster.

I wanted to shoot myself in that level

it was, especially attacking the red terrans. FUCK their millions of siege tanks :| my hydra rush should work every day of the week 😉

7guards + 12 ultras + 36 hydras + dark swarm = death 🙂

The Brood Wars ending felt depressing to me back then, one of the very few games out there where the ending isn't all roses and hugs.

I love replaying these games about once a year. The terran missions have almost become too easy for me though, I like to challenge myself by playing them with a goal of losing 0 units (buildings are acceptable losses). Yes this includes the mission in SC where Kerrigan is 'lost' and the final Terran BW mission to capture the new overmind where the Torrasque ('hero' Ultralisk) is sent against you repeatedly and often.

Those are extremely fun to try to pull off - moving Kerrigan's base to the upper right most of the map and fortifying the position enough to absolutely decimate what is supposed to be an unstoppable zerg rush...yeah, she didn't need any evac...

hey! you don't f*ck with the queen bitch of the universe!

Never finished brood war.

That's my one beef with the blizzard expansions - not only do they add units, but they often modify the properties of units in the original game. Bugs the hell out of me. I have enough new stuff to learn without re-learning all the original tech trees.

might you be thinking of warhammer: Dawn of War?

aside from the new units added, the goliath got charon missiles... i think that was it. if i had my brood war manual i'd bust it out and check 😛

Frozen Throne had way more modifications to existing units, and my memory of brood war was so hazy I for some reason seemed to remember them doing similar stuff. I could've been wrong.

In any case, I stand by my not liking Blizzard expansions much (except LOD for D2), but their games are always favorites.

I thank the stars the Protoss didn't employ any Reavers and that they only controlled my Overlords. Had they done otherwise that mission would've been impossible.

Some of the patches did change a few things of the original units, like the cost of Scouts for example. Also Zealots went from 80/80 to 60/100.

i zergling rushed the red in the very beginning, then Hydra spammed the protoss, and then took care of the other Terran last.
