Finally, a policy that I can wholly endorse by an airline!

I have definitely been on flights (especially when I first started traveling without the benefit of elite upgrades) where the guys next to me had their whole right halves resting on my thigh. Hell, I've been in first and some lady couldn't fit in the seat next to me!

so if there are two seats that are empty together, there is no fee

if there is only one empty seat and it is not next to fatty, there is a fee. so they're basically selling the seat next to fatty twice.

however, if there are not other empty seats, fatty has to ride the next plane.

i'm wondering when exactly anyone will be paying a fee?

I like this idea. If you're as large and weigh as much as two average people, you should be charged for a second person.

When there are a bunch of seats free, but the seat next to them is occupied. The passenger pays a fee, the attendants force someone to move, and and the airline gets free cash.

haha! Take that fatty!*

*Referring to the fat bastard that took up 1/5 of my seat a few flights ago.

I agree with this as well. People have to learn to stop eating so much. Ex: only have ONE super size double baconator meal, not two.

But it's not their fault they're fat!!!!!

(btw : yes, they should have to pay for two seats if they want / need to occupy two of them)

maybe they should have a king size seat with a queen next to it. They could charge more for the king and less for the queen....

nah, they aint never going to do that.

I was on a southwest flight recently. The woman next to me was a bit too big for her seat. Her fat flowed under the armrest and pushed against my thigh. It was disgusting.

Everyone should receive a limit on how much weight they're carrying. This includes body weight.

Why should I pay the same price as someone that takes up twice the room and weight? I dont want to subsidize their bacon.

Thats nothing. When I was on a 3 hour train ride during the summer, they seated me next to this fat lady in shorts and a tshirt. Her clothing was soaked in sweat and it was touching me. Not cool.

Actually its illegal in Canada to do this now. Some court ruling in the last year.

It's only a matter of time until this makes it to the US courts as well.

Exactly. I can already hear the screams of discrimination.

For the price of two seats they might be able to upgrade to Business or First Class.

Being fat is not a protected class in the US. Not sure what laws the courts used in Canada to allow it but as of right now it could not hold up in the courts in the US.
