Ah, Land of riches and witches! :D
HOUSTON — At home in Nigeria, the Pentecostal preacher Helen Ukpabio draws thousands to her revival meetings. Last August, when she had herself consecrated Christendom’s first “lady apostle,” Nigerian politicians and Nollywood actors attended the ceremony. Her books and DVDs, which explain how Satan possesses children, are widely known.

So well-known, in fact, that Ms. Ukpabio’s critics say her teachings have contributed to the torture or abandonment of thousands of Nigerian children — including infants and toddlers — suspected of being witches and warlocks. Her culpability is a central contention of “Saving Africa’s Witch Children,” a documentary that made its American debut Wednesday on HBO2.

Those disturbed by the needless immiseration of innocent children should beware. “Saving Africa’s Witch Children” follows Gary Foxcroft, founder of the charity Stepping Stones Nigeria, as he travels the rural state of Akwa Ibom, rescuing children abused during horrific “exorcisms” — splashed with acid, buried alive, dipped in fire — or abandoned roadside, cast out of their villages because some itinerant preacher called them possessed.

So needed here! There's a two year old down the street who turned me into a newt. I got better.

Otoh, this is some seriously sad shite.

Well, as a male chauvinistic pig, I have to admit the witchcraft contention so butters my boat. And adds a new letter in the FFFF male rationale, why not add a K to the mix in the old find them, feels them, fuck then and forget them, and then add the K to kill them. After all, everyone knows Eve was the rascal that ate the apple, and got us males kicked out of the garden of Eden.

Having said that, I really hope no females believe a single word of my sarcasm.

Some people claim that religion fills them, changes them, and makes them a better person.

Sometimes, religion is just a coating on a dangerous wacko.

Unfortunately, here is a case where the coating has given somebody wide recognition, an air of authority, and immunity to do great harm.

Science and reasoning stripped religion of its ability to do these kinds of atrocities in much of the world, but this kind of thing demonstrates how dangerous it still is where uneducated populations still exist.

And yet, we all know of people who do their best to strip science and reasoning from existing educational programs.

Yep, it's the same as Texas ruling education in America.

This is the kind of result that you will get.

The third face of Helen Ukpabio is brutish and monstrous. In an attempt to clear her name following the film’s release, Helen employed the Lagos lawyer Victor Ukutt. Ms Ukpabio identified Gary Foxcroft of Steppi

ng Stones Nigeria and Sam Ikpe-Itauma of Child Rights and Rehabilitation Centre (CRARN) in Eket, as the enemies that must be crushed. Mr Ukutt, on behalf of the Trustees of Liberty Foundation Gospel Ministry, wrote a threatening letter to both organisations demanding a public and published apology and one billion US Dollars on behalf of his clients. When this failed to achieve the desired reaction, Helen employed the Police to visit CRARN on 3rd July of this year where the aim was to arrest or kidnap Mr Ikpe-Itauma. Failing to achieve this, the policemen beat several of the children including two who required hospitalisation. Helen has used every means to defend her name, never attempting to ameliorate the plight of stigmatised children. Ms Ukpabio would perhaps achieve her goal of rehabilitating her name by re-distributing the wealth amassed through cruelty to children and clearing the social mess caused by her actions.
