Finally, a new Fuji CDR deal. 100 pack @ BB $9.99 AR

Remember, the 50 and 30 pack spindles may still be TYs. I was looking at a website the other day where you could get an unbranded 100 pack spindle of TYs for $28. Not the best deal, but they're out there. I guess TY couldn't give Fuji a good enough deal to keep using them.

how do you detect just from the CD itself where it was made, what utility can i use?

I use Smart Burn Media checker from Lite-on. It can be DL'd from their site, but I'm not sure if it works with other than the Lite-on brand. It would be worth a try.

So, who else besides Fuji sells TY's? Is this the end of "TY's" or just the end of "Fuji branded TY's"?

It seems to me that loss of Fuji as a retail channel for their product would be a large loss for a wholesaler like TY.
Maxell Audio ($13 at SAM's Club) and Maxell Pro are TY. That's all I'm aware of.

is there a rebate link where u can print out the rebate (in case you order this online)

Well, there should have been a link on the product page last week but now that rebate is over. Usually you go to www.myrewards.info and register, but they ask you to send in the original rebate form, receipt, UPC, and the sheet you print out from tht website. Maybe someone else can help out here. Or call/go to BB and ask.

You can still get rebate form. Go to www.bestbuy.com, then "help", then "where can I get rebate forms", then "on-line", then "fuji". Make sure you are not blocking pop-ups.

well there has to be some other ways to get TY disc, b/c i know a lot of bands that record their live shows have contracts (namely DMB) with TY b/c they guarantee their disc will last 100 years provided they care kept in the right conditions.

I used to order unbranded TY's from various mail order houses. Every now and then you could find a really good deal where you could get 450 + 150 free discs for around $100 shipped. Ever since cd-recordable.com went under, there's not much to choose from.

Media Supply has spindles for $34 (100) / $99 (300) / $168 (600).

ok, i mean, i like TYs too, but who's going to keep their CD-Rs for 100 years? we'd be dead by then, let alone be using
CD/CD-R technology in a few years.

pretty soon, we'll be using huge jumpdrives for everything, or something.
(this is NOT a threadcrap, im just saying why do we have to spend more to buy TYs?)

wait holdon, so the rebate offer is already over, ok thanx for the info, i guess i missed out big time on this deal

Yep, that deal ended Sat. This week they have a $6 MIR on a 100 pack, so $20 AR and $4 MIR on a 50 pack, $10 AR. Not nearly as good as last week, but if you can't get TY 100 pack's anymore and need some disks, pick up a 50 pack.

some cdrs dont even last 6 months. ive had terrible experience with kingston hypermedia, for instance. prime peripherals also makes pretty crappy cdrs.

I'm looking at picking up some unbranded TY from www.rima.com they want $28 for a spindle of 100, it's a shame that Fuji decided to drop to the lower quality media.

I've had some khypermedia discs with errors right after burning - they were freebies (big surprise there as far as quality)

is it just my luck or does BB packing stuff really crappy like? I got a bunch of smaller stuff when a rebate frenzy was going on a few months ago, and the CDR case was broke, a few of the Jewel cases i bought were broken (100pack of empty cases) and i think there were a few other things that had really crappy packing but no damage. just kinda annoying, i hate crappy packed stuff more than the devil himself.

Still haven't received my Fuji order from last Sunday, I guess you get what you pay for (free shipping), they must be sending it fourth class mail.

BTW, Staples has Maxell CD-R 50 pk for $9.94 no rebates B&M. Some of you are reporting Maxell CD-R's are made by Ritek and music CD-R's are made by TY. I didn't want to post this deal in fear of being crapped on by the "CD-R quality doesn't matter police".

Am I reading the rebate form right? The rebate says Model 25301472 but my receipt says under Item Description 25301481. The SKUs match though. I'm calling them tomorrow.

uh...i only buy sony, and infotool reports them as manufactured by Sony...so wtf ? here we dont have fuji memorex brands...all i have to choose from are sony samsung princo imation lg moser-baer and some other cheap ones.
how do i check which ones are the best ?

This is what I've gathered from this thread. From better to worse quality:

TY ==> Ritek ==> CMC Magnetics

Can someone confirm/correct/add to this?

Thanks.

I think that's the feel that I have from checking out the CDFreaks Forums. Scroll down to the media forum. There's also CDR Labs, I don't frequent there much but I have had links from CDFreaks point there.

There's alot of info and it gets very anal about CDR quality. But if you want good, reliable burns, you can find out what media to stay away from or what speed to burn certain discs at.
