Revealing the level of my nerd here, but if you've lost the appeal of a yo-yo within a few minutes then you got a shitty one. If you got any sort of decent one that allows you to spin, you could get AT LEAST a weeks worth of fun out of it. I remember getting into it even more though... learned a lot of little tricks to keep it interesting. Wonder if I would remember how to do any of them.

Both the yo yo and original top with a string launcher takes skill unlike the fidget spinner.

It's a toy. Intrinsic value. Same as yo-yo's, slap bracelets, POGs, beanie babies, etc. Just something to play with & collect.
