Umm.. the async memory clocking itself would be worth the price, IMHO? How many folks had to buy overpriced memory and then had problem with all the strap BS on Intel chipsets? I am replacing my P5W-DH with this one. I am truly impressed by NV's attention to every little detail.

Problem? Just buy good brands that use Micron ICs and you're set.

Okay. Like I said this board is for the enthusiast/hardcore users.

It's obvious you are not one of them therefore this board is not for you.

The ability to independently control the mem and cpu is a feature that overclockers can benefit from as well as having SLI w/o hacked drivers.

I for one am very excited by the 680i as well as the new upcoming rd600.

I am tired of being fsb limited on the 975x so it's refreshing to see some new stuff do better.

I'm not an enthusiast because I am happy running my E6400 @ 3.2, my FSb at 400 and my memory at DDR2-1000? Last time i checked that was over 50% increase in clock speed.

Go dream up a new term. "harcore"? so because I'm not over at XS using no case and cooling my system with NASA approved AC units I'm not "hardcore" is that it?

P-L-E-A-S-E

Wesley and Gary said it.

Look at what he refers to for the 680i.

edit 1: they said hardcore... but i must be making words up, right?

edit 2: and sorry if i've offended. i said you weren't an enthusiast because you said you didn't need the features. i said this board was for the enthusiasts because of the features. therefore i came to the conclusion that you weren't an enthusiast. again, my apologies if I offended you.

The features I don't need are the lame network BS, the SLI, and the async memory.

1) I could just buy a Server class NIC if I wanted
2) SLI is cost prohibitive IMO unless you go for a mid-range setup but then a single card from the high end can match it
3) I don't find async memory to be all that special unless you can run DDR2-533 memory at it's rated speed while running a 500Mhz FSB which from what I can tell, you can't.

cmdrdredd..bashing the board a bit much...jealous??

Look it may not be for you..but for many it has a nice build and if it is stable ..perfect

BTW does this board have an issue with Vdroop??

I have not seen this mentioned

I don't see why...everything the board offers is available on other boards (except for the supported SLi)

the memory issue isn't an issue at all. Just something people who buy cheap ram complain about on the p965 platform.

Again as I said...if you already bought a C2D board based on 975x or p965 it's not worth reinstalling windows and all just to get this. Unless you absoutely, must have SLI.

Finally, a lifted NDA. However nice the reviews on the 680i, I am more anxious for the RD600 board namely DFI?s new RD600 lanparty. Hopefully i won't have to wait much longer.

The DFI board will allow for even more intricate adjustments. Plus my damn P5B-Deluxe fried for some reason so I need to setup an RMA, then I?ll sell the replacement.

I need a board capable of 500+ FSB damnit.

Also I look forward to the asynch memory frequency so that I can max out my HZ?s.

Indeed, though I am interested in the performance hit by running the RAM and FSB async. On P4s it was up tp 5% so nothing major, hopefully C2Ds will be the same.

I saw at XS the RD600 may not be out before Q1 2007 (of course this was secondhand info from some who spoke to DFI)

*Shrug* buying good memory is not hard if you research what you're buying.

I'm not the one to get annoyed but...

we get the point... GET BETTER MEMORY BLAH BLAH BLAH...

🙂 🙂 🙂

What I like is ram voltage at something other then .1v boost...NICE!!!!

Not fo rme since I dont need SLI but interested in the soon to come non-SLI mobos...

I hope not, i've been waiting for that board for ages. I?m really anxious to see results, and purchase asap. However these nVidia boards are actually looking quite good too.

RichUK..I have asked around and I obviously the NDA has not been reached

Tony at XS eluded to speeds fsb/memory on the RD600 and said *soon*..they are working on bios at dfi...HAHAHA thought could a week, month, a quarter...LOL

I hate this I need a mobo now!!!!!

Actually, Tony at XS said that the board was now in production. Hopefully, several weeks from retail.

@Baked

just because coolaler has good contacts and early selection of cherry picked parts doesn't make him the man!

its amazing what you can do with dry ice + nitrogen and alot time on your hands.
