I am so happy! For the longest time (3 months), I've been pleased but not happy about my P4 2.53 chip. With the stock heatsink/fan, I was rock steady at 2.93Ghz. . . but I couldn't get anymore out of it. No matter how much juice I pumped into it, nothing above 2.93Ghz.

Thanks to the recommendations for the Alpha Pal8942, and just some random 80mm fan I had laying around, I am able to hit 3Ghz. Isn't that sweet? I can't wait when my YS-Tech variable speed fan comes in.

Really. Wow.

So finally, 158FSB for 3Ghz with my P4B533-E and Corsair 400DDR@421DDR.

I didn't know that swapping fans and heatsinks could do so much. I'm at 43 degrees on Prime too. In my haste, I forgot to check what my idle temp was but who cares? hahahahaha (can you tell I'm happy?) :D

now i can say w00t :D

lowering temperatures will almost always get you that few mhz more

and yeah who cares about idle, its the max load which matters the most

sandra benchmarks?

EDIT: How are my scores compared to other P4s? Or even AMDs for that matter?

I've been Priming for about 3 hours now, with no problems. I should be able to pump up the FSB again, right? Or too greedy?

One more thing, my memory's running at cas 2/3/3/6 when I thought it'd only go at those timings under 400DDR. But apparently not. :) Any ideas on when I'll need to up it to 2.5/3/3/7? FSB-wise.

I have the P4B533-E. At 150MHz bus with the 3:4 memory multiplier dip switch trick I get 3050 Int/FPU. Your memory is probably still running at 1:1. Use WCPUID or SiSoft Mainboard information to confirm.

I just joined the 3ghz group too. I had a P4 2.66 that would only get to 2.9ghz stable on my Epox 4G4A+. Any overvolting would make the system unstable.

I picked up an Asus P4PE and am running the 2.66 at 150FSB, default vcore, 400DDR 2.6 Vmem. Prime95 ran all last night and is running into this evening when I get home from work. Sad thing is I haven't even played a game or done any serious benchmarks yet since installing the mobo yesterday.

Hrmm. I'm very sure that my dipswitch 6 hasn't been played with, it's still ON and everything else OFF. I checked WCPUID and the Mainboard Information on Sandra and they're both seeing my memory at 210Mhz. Damn, this sucks.

Here are some of my BIOS settings:

cas 2/3/3/6 vdimm 2.7v
Sdram Idle Timer- infinite
UC- disabled
PCI Latency- 64

Is there anything I should look for to change or do I just have a not up to par stick of xms3200cas2?

Bleah, quit your boasting - you're making those of us running below 3GHz feel bad :)

Congrats! I'm off work until 12/2, so I'll finally have time to replace the thermal tape w/ AS. I'm also going to vent my HS fan to the case's exterior with some tubing. It'll be interesting to see if my temps are lowered enough to affect my ability to overclock...

I just rememberd that I'm using the BIOS ver. 1011. Maybe I'll flash back to 1008 after work and see what my scores are.

EDIT: Prime crashed after 9 hours. :( Backed FSB down by 1. hehe.

Okay, I changed memory timings, reverted back to v.1008 but I'm still not hitting 3000+ in memory scores.

As far as I remember, my P4B533-E (before I burned it due to an unsuccesful Vmem mod) after applying the dip switch trick, had to set 1:1 in bios in order to clock the mem @fsb x1.333(2.666 ddr). If I chose the 3:4 divider, then the memory was running @ a true 1:1.
So, give it a try and post any results.

Make sure your memory ratio is set to 1:1 in the BIOS after turning on dip switch 6.

1:1 = 3:4
4:3 = 1:1

Is it correct in using half of my memory for the test? Also, I don't know why my bandwidth efficiency is so low.

Oh, it looks like you have SiSoft Sandra 2003, correct? I'm using 2002 Pro since it won't let me upgrade to 2003 until Dec 3rd.
