I'd like to max this rig out and am confused by all the different AMD processors out there? Which CPU would put this thing at maximum force?

Thanks

I am assuming you are talking of gaming.
upgrades in order of priority.

1)Get a 1900XT.
2)OC your CPU as fas as it can go
3)If you still need more power get the X2 3800 and oc it all the way up

or if you don't want to follow 3), then
sell your current stuff and get core 2 duo, shouldn't be that expensive

Pop in an X2. The 3800+ is a stellar value right now.

For video, there are plenty of choices. X1900 if you prefer ATI, 7900GT(X) if you prefer nVidia.

To get the best response would mean going to an X2. Then the choice is 1M L2 or 512K L2, there is a difference in performance - small in most applications, significant in others. I chose a 4800, just to max out my system without having to overclock.

Go with the Opty. You will have more overhead for overclocking into the future. You can alos buy a lower priced processor and clock it higher rather than buying the more expensive processor and not getting the most out of it.

Edit:

akshayt said it good, if just for gaming then up the video card

Got a DFI Ultra D a month after launch with latest BIOS and am running a 3800+ x2 at 2.6ghz default voltage. I say go x2 and o/c the crap out of it. I'm betting with a voltage increase 2.8Ghz is possible(on mine anyway). Not sure I'll even bother since I am happy with current performance.

Probably the best $99 I've ever spent(got a good deal on it used).
