OK i have several banner submissions, i will put them all up on a page and have a forum poll to vote for the winner. But i have decided to extend to contest a few days and to clear some things up as well.
1) Banners must be 120x60 pixels in size. Animations are ok, but keep the filesize reasonable. If possible, send me the PNG as well as the GIF
2) This banner is NOT going to be run on ANANDTECH.COM, but a heavy traffic computer related site. This means that the site visitors will have NO CLUE what Distributed computing is, and a bunch of letters scrolling across a banner like OGR, RC5, SETI, GF, are not going to make sense to anyone. We need to make banners to target people who have no idea what distributed computing is, but get them interested enought to click and find out.
3) The page we are linking to still is not decided. (hint hint)
4) If you havent sent any money to the Paypal account DanC has set up for this banner ad, DO SO NOW! Even if you only send a few bucks, just do it. i think the email is ta_rc5team@hotmail.com just go to paypal and send money to that email, if you dont have paypal, when you sign up, use that email as your referral, and both accounts will get an extra $5.
