**FINAL SPECS ON MY RIG**

I would advise as most here did.
The case is a matter of choice but it is mighty ugly to me. The color, the shape, all of it.

The PSU is a waste of cash. Get a Fortron Blue Storm 500 watt. Save 50 bucks or so.

The cpu is a waste as 3500+ performance is easily reachable on a 3000+.
I love my Crucial RAM but any name brand Value Ram works great.
The Raptor is a huge waste as its not going to show up as efficent half the time and provides little actual hard drive space for the price.

I have also read of problems with the SATA burner on these nforce 4 boards to check that out before you order one. 2 3520's make more sense honestly. You can buy rounded cables for 8 bucks a pop.


That video card is wayyy overpriced for what it will give you over a 200$ one.
 
My only quam is the video card. $600 is way too much for a NON PE x850xt. Go to ZipZoomFly and get their x850xt PE for around $500 if you want to really splurge.
 
2Xtreme... I thought about that (The Sapphire X850 XT PE) But I like the cooling solution on the HIS... It's only 35mhz slower on the clock, it's in a retail box with games, cables, connectors and drivers all right there. It also has an overclocking program in the box for which HIS still warranties but only if you use their program to overclock your card... So I figured what the hell, I can over clock it to FASTER than a X850 XT PE and STILL get all this stuff with it... Can't beat that with a stick if you have the money.. BTW to all you case haters... I love it and im keeping it damnit.

In fact everything is already ordered... all the sites checked in as packed... should be shipped tomorrow and get here by wednesday or thursday. Thanks to all for input and I will keep all informed of build progress and how it all pans out. If anyone wants to know about how a particular part of the computer checks out (Like if you've never used a HIS video card but are considering it) or anything of that sort, I'd be happy to answer questions. Again, thanks to all.
 
priomaneak, I'll sell you my MSI Neo2 Platinum for $120. I've had it for a month, it's in perfect condition, retail packaging included.
 
Haha, man, stay away from the OCZ PowerStream 520, it's not ATX2.0 compliant (Which is what your mobo requires, if you look). I went through the same confusion, get the Fortron. The only OCZ PSU that is 2.0 compliant (with two 12v rails) is there 600watt version ($200). Save $120 and buy the damn Fortron.
And the get the NEC burner, beautiful price/performance ratio.
 
But I just cant seem to get rid of that damned floppy drive... I wonder when they will finally pitch that thing and make it worthless... It almost is now but you still need it to flash bios, run diagnostics, and all sorts of things.

Not quite right ....some mobos will let you boot from USB pen drives etc or if you have one of those 7 in one mem card readers I believe there is support emerging for them too....KILL THE FLOPPY!!!!!!
 
Wrong chaos and cryo... the PowerStream 520 IS ATX 2.03 compliant (Which is the actual spec for one). It has the ConnectAll connector which has the slide on 4 pin connection to make it a 24 pin ECS thanks... I didn't do over a month of research on this rig to let something like that slip through 😛

Really therapy try 150 an hour with a shrink or just block the pages that have the blue penis case.
