Final socket A CPU upgrade

Since AMD announced that they will be discontinuing the Athlon XP Barton line in early 2005 I was hoping to make one more upgrade to my old nForce 2 MB. I was planning on going for a 3200/400 FSB Barton (Might as well max it out). Prices seem to be around $130 for the OEM version right now. Unfortunately cash is a bit short until after Christmas.
Is there a typical price pattern as AMD closes out a product line?

I will assume that price will probably be fairly steady.

if it's been out for a while (which it has) and still hasn't gotten reall what Id call cheap, it probably won't go down too much before its discontinued.
buy it whenever you can IMO.

same situation... i'm running a T'bred 2100XP at 2gig now./... Will the extra cache from a barton be that noticable? Or the extra 200-400 Mhz?

let there be an ultimatum.

under 2GHz = upgrade to mobile or whatever you can max. support.

over 2GHz = upgrade to new platform.

edit: let me say coming from a 2200+ (1800MHz) tbredA that could do 1950MHz, jump to a mobile CPU, with a new HS/F running at 2300MHz, the 500MHz jump wasnt very noticeable, along with an upgrade from 512MB to 1024MB.

i am having big time buyers remorse and i think i should have just opted for an A64 configuration, which i cant even use my HS/F on, because i had to cut some of the retention clip off to fit my epox board (Zalman 7000A AL-CU) now i cant even use it on an A64 board unless i buy a new clip.
