(wave master...)For airflow on HDDs? HELL NO. as for cases... Antec Plus1080 AMG is a nice case.. kinda like chieftecs.. and Lian-li cases are very good with airflow and arent too bad looking, And there easy to install with ..

As for processors:

I think think its not worth the extra cash for the FX.. infact.. the 3400 Would probably beat it if they both were in optimal settings..

Kinda silly.. but probably true.. look at the Futuremark ORB.. People with 3200s with semi-good cooling are so close to a FX-51 with a cascade(very cold.. -100 degrees) cooling design..

Not to mention the A64 doesnt require reg mem.. reg mem adds around one cycle to each timing.. they run at like 2-3-2-6 which is more like 3-4-3-7 because of the reg ram..and no pc3500 >.<

With a A64 3400+ Shuttle AN50r and some good memory(Kingston HyperX works really well on the shuttle) im sure it could pass a FX-51

Also.. if you dont mind waiting.. in march the FX-51 939s will be here.. no damn reg ram.. that will prolly screw all the other chips over.. but its up to you.


EDIT: And.. unless you run photoshop while your creating a gigantic 3d model of someones wang.. then you dont need 2 gb of ram.

ok I will look at the cases and revise, and also with the A64 3400, also, I already have the ram I got a pretty good deal on it anyways I paid 150 for each stick, I was what you could suggest in the way of cooling, I like giga-byte motherboards better I have had one in the two computers I have had in the last two years and has never done wrong by me

Well, if you reeeally want to get technical, a terrabyte is 1,024 gigabytes. So he'd need a 120 GB HD instead of an 80.

Unless of course you side with the IEC. It should be a Tebibyte(TiB) whereas a Terabyte is 10^24. But I think we all know what everyone means nowadays :beer:

Hmm, you've got ECC ram. AFAIK FX-51 boards need Registered, and Athlon 64 boards need regular (unbuffered?) ram. I'm not even sure if ECC ram will run. You'll wanna check.

I am going with just the AMD 64 3400+ and no ECC ram but yes all 64 FX 51's required registerred ram

yes because there is an Nforce 3 mobo that is a socket 940 and all socket 940 boards need Registerred ram
