ANTEC Performance Plus, 430W TruePower PSU, Model "PLUS1080AMG" - 114$ good choice!
MSI K8T800 Socket 754 CPU, Model "K8T NEO-FSR" - 96$ might want to get the upgrade, unless you don't need firewire
AMD athlon 64 3000 - 224$ another good choice, might want to look into oem + better hsf
Western Digital 120GB 7200RPM SATA, Model WD1200JD, OEM - 111$ unless you need the space, get a raptor instead
Kingston HyperX Series 184 Pin 512MB DDR PC-3500 - 133$ get a gig
SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON 9800PRO, 128MB DDR, RETAIL - 219$ good card!
SONY Black 1.44MB 3.5inch Floppy Disk Drive, Model MPF920, OEM - 12$
Lite-On Black 16X DVD-ROM Drive, Model XJ-HD166, OEM - 29$
Lite-On Black 52X32X52 CD-RW Drive, Model LTR-52327S, OEM - 35$
total cost: 973$

thanks for any suggestions.

my only suggestion now is...do you really have to have this new rig now? with pci-express just around the corner, don't you want to see how it performs? I would say atleast wait and see it come out, determine if the increased performance/dollar ratio is significant enough to to pci-express. Trust me, this system will still be there waiting for your purchase if pci-e isn't all that's cracked up to be. By that time, I bet your overall cost for these specs will drop aprox $100 as well.

Sorry about my rudeness, but I just hate to see a one sided arguement! Good luck with your boards and I hope the OP has your luck with his MSI board and not mine!
