What do you do with your PC? Play games? We need to have a budget and what you plan on doing with it so we can know how to set it up.

Ok, the first thing I will recommend is to change your case. Unless you really like the looks of that one that is of course, because if you do then pay no mind to me. If I remember right, that case has a lot of problems with it. The power supply that comes with it isn't so great, in fact it is very likely total crap. Take a look at Raidmax cases, such as the Scorpio 868. I would say go beyond that and look at Antec cases.

In my opinion, I would choose a different motherboard. Say an nForce 3 250 Gb board. Epox makes one that costs less than $100.

If you want to save some money, but not lose much performance you might look at a 3000+ instead of the 3200+. Just a suggestion. It wouldn't be hard to overclock the 3000 to 3200 speeds, especially on a board like the one I suggested.

RAM and video card choices are good.

I would personally recommend different speakers. You can get a nice set of 5.1s for that price or better (Logitech Z5300s, or Creative Megaworks)

Check the Hot Deals forums, you can get a Raptor for $150 after mail in rebate direct from Western Digital.

You're not going to put a Raptor in the external enclosure are you? It will negate any benefit the Raptor offers if you do...

Not bad choices for the most part. A little tuning and you'll be set.

If you're going to get that case, atleast dump that POS powmax PSU. It's a ticking time bomb. Get an Antec, Sparkle, Enermax, or Fortron. Look for a 350watt model. That'll run that system just fine. And if you're conerned about upgrading in the near future(6800 ultras and such), go atleast 400watts. Everything else is good IMO

What sort of a 450W power supply are you getting? It can't be very good when combined with a case at that price. And I found several customer reports at newegg of PowMax case power supplies blowing out almost immediately. :( Just saying that, if you like that case, you might want to get one with no PSU and add a quality one yourself.

Also, I wonder if you might want to consider the A64 3000+ 512MB L2 CPU instead. It's clocked at the same rate as the 3200+ 1MB L2 (Clawhammer) ... to my knowledge, the only advantage of the 3200+ is the additional L2 cache, which according to benchmarls that I've seen may not be of much benefit to you for most games (and certainly not for online stuff). This would also save you more than enough to pay for a good quality PSU.

I hope this is helpful. (Edit: see, this is what I get for taking several minutes away from writing a post to read through customer reports at Newegg ... a few others have beaten me to the punch! :)

Let's see, where do we begin?

The case is subpar. I've seen the same model at Fry's and not only is the build quality shoddy, but the power supply is less than desirable. Get this one instead, because if you're spending almost $1700 on a computer, the case needs to be good.

This motherboard is not only cheaper than your Asus, but also has a newer chipset with AGP/PCI locks (using the beta BIOS). HardOCP recommended this board as their budget o/c board of choice for the A64 platform (read it here).

The same video card for less.

Logitech 2.1 or 5.1 for less. They get very loud, BTW. The speakers you chose are good, but not the best value.

Better LCD (fast response time, excellent contrast ratio)

Keep the Raptor if you must have the speed, but remember that you can also get a very fast, very quiet, and big Samsung SATA drive for less.

What are the "docks" you are buying? And the hard drive "enclosure"? They are probably gimmicky and unneeded; if you get the Antec case I recommended, a single 120mm fan up front will blow cool air right over the hard drive, negating the need for an enclosure.

What's the deal with the enclosure?

It's a wonderful idea if you're going to stuff a 200 gb drive in it for media/files, but it's an awful idea if you're going to use it with your raptor.

I heard the Raptor doesn't give too much of a performance boost over a SATA 7200 drive. Besides, the prices IMO are too high. This is what I think for the system without changing the motherboard, Ram,speakers, monitor, memory dock, or hardrive enclosure.--

Newegg

Regardless of if you'll watch movies, the 5300s would likely be better speakers. Also, there are many games and will be games in the future that support 5.1 channel audio.

If you do a little digging you could save yourself some dough. For instance, check out newegg, zipzoomfly, excaliberpc, mwave, and there's a few others that are really good. Just make sure you buy your CPU and motherboard from the same place (like Newegg or mwave) and get the Far Cry bundle, which will give you Far Cry for free.

Oh, and make sure and don't buy the LCD monitor from Newegg, their dead pixel policy is terrible.

See if the motherboard you're getting is on this list. If it is, then when you add both the CPU and mobo to the cart, it will automatically add Far Cry for free as well.

I have the monitor that you bought (The comment by Mynameisbt is me), and it's great on VGA and DVI. Newegg's dead pixel policy does suck, and mine came with two, but they arent really noticeable and while playing games I don't even see them. For the money your spending on speakers you should get better ones. Try the get the promedia 2.1 speakers, they are awesome

The 3200+ with 1MB cache does also work for the Far Cry bundle deal, it just isn't listed, but if you look up that CPU it shows that it does.

you said you wanted powerful speakers, those Altec Lansings are a PATHETIC value, way too overpriced. z-680s are only 60 bux more, and pretty much the best 5.1CH pc speakers i have EVER seen. ditch the K8V SE Deluxe and go for the EPOX nf3-250GB board for under 99 bux at newegg, but that board doesn't have the farcry deal, the Gigabyte NF3-250 board is great (sadly not Gb)
good socket 754 boards with the farcry promo:
