I still don't get the point.

I'll buy it if it has good games, but until I see some game reviews, it just looks like a gimic.

1) Why wouldn't anyone want more screen real estate? Think of all the times in Zelda you have to pull up your inventory. All the times in Metroid you have to pull up a map. How about a nice rearview in Mario Kart?

2)
As for the launch line-up, all we know for certain is that "more than 120 Nintendo DS games [are] in development" with more than 100 companies signed up, and that "Nintendo alone is developing more than 20 titles."
Do you really think there will be any shortage of games for it? Not to mention it will play GBA games.

but that's nothing innovative and nothing we don't have in 1-screen consol systems already.

which is to say, it's a nice feature, but not nice enough to be worth spending the money.

I'm not going to play a game by constantly tapping on a touchscreen with a stylus (cough metroid)

Interesting how hte original game boy lasted about 10 years with out a real replacement. Then in the last 4 years there has been the GB color, GB advance and GB ADV SP. now we're up to GB DS. I wonder how long this thing will be around.

Considering the fact that I don't own an SP, but the DS will play all GB, GBC, GBA games, and only costs $50 more than an SP................plus the graphics kick a$$ in Metroid DS............I'm buying.

Basically the GBA has been around for the past 3 years without a 'real' replacement (I wouldnt call the GBASP a real replacement) :) Nintendo made so much money off of the original Gameboy i'm really surprised they didnt bother making a new one till about 10 years later. I dont see the GBDS going anywhere at all.

Just for clarification though:

Gameboy was released in 89
Virtual Boy was released in 95
Gameboy Pocket was released in 96
Gameboy Color was released in 98.
Gameboy Advance (released in 01) had a glaring problem with it's dark screen which they remedied with the SP (released in 03)

Like I said, there's no way I'm tapping a screen with a stylus to fire at monsters.

Enjoy the battery life; on top of the fact that most games will probably be ports of PS2/PS1 games..nothing like paying $50 for a game you could play on a big-screen TV for the same price :)

Same here. The PSP will destroy the DS.

it's going to depend 100% on exclusive titles...

that said, the PSP seems more designed towards solid games with good graphics, while the DS seems a lot more gimicky (sp).

I can't even begin to imagine how they'd incorporate the stylus into a game without it getting really annoying really fast.

but I'm open, and I hope to be suprised.
