Is there a considerable difference between the 867Mhz Powerbook & the 1GHz Powerbook?

Is it enough difference to justify the extra costs?

Thanks,
Josh

I dont think that the 12" has the L3 cache, but I dont know for sure.

The CPU speed doesnt matter *that* much. As far as DDR vs SDRAM, the speed difference is negligable, unless the G4s in the 12" powerbook are 7475s(I think thats the model #).

EDIT: Come on, pm a mod and have this thread put in the proper forum!

I would go with the 15.2". I like the ATI Radeon 9000 chipset better and the screen is beautiful.

Is there anything that you are going to do that is going to tax memory bandwidth. DDR is obviously preferable, but if all you are doing is word processing/web surfing/mp3 playing, I wouldn't worry about it.

I would love it if the 15" version came with DDR RAM, and chances are you will see it in the future.

$2600 is why not.

Do we have to go through this same tired arguement all over?

He wants a Mac. He is buying a Mac. The Mac will be the best system for him in this situation. Get over it. x86 is great for what it is good for. But what it is good for, is not what everyone wants to do.

12" does not have L3. You know, if you are a student, you could get a 12" powerbook for over $1000 cheaper. I went that route. The 12" comes in supporting airport extreme and bluetooth builtin, dont forget.

As far as video goes. I can play WC3 without any hiccups on my 12" with only 256MB RAM.

There are a bunch of rumors that Apple will be announcing the new 15" al books soon, but they are just rumors.

Don't get the superdrive, its overpriced and its only a 1x burner. Pay $150 and get a 4x burner for your PC. It will save you some cash.

Well I would just hate to see them upgrade the 15" with ddr also 3 days after I buy one :-/

Don't buy one. You'll regret it. I know I sure did. Mac OS X is all hype. It's not that stable and wonderful. In fact, it's downright slow. You can't get the application you're bound to want and the hardware is too slow and overpriced. I regret all the money that I lost reselling my mac POS.

You might want to wait a month or two if you can. There are rumors that there will be a 15.4 version of the powerbook that includes the illuminated keyboard, airport extreme, Bluetooth, etc., but they are just rumors.

You dont know what your talking about. Its like I was like WOW I like these OSX Screenies. I actuallyy messed with my freind mac. In the applications I use It is worth it, the performance is great compared to my desktop as it is now.

BTW Macs dont loose their value that much, so you couldnt have taken a big lose.

Yes Ive heard those too, I want be doing much wireless file transfers so airport extreme doesnt fascinate me, I have no need for bluetooth atm and I can get a sub bluetooth for 50 bucks if it comes down to it, Iluminated KB just drains battery and serves me no purpose, The ram is the only thing that I would want upgrade to faster DDR mem.

I am about ready to put down $2300 on a TiBook.

What do you really know about Macs?

I don't know much about mac's but for that much money you can buy a stout pc/notebook.

I'm well aware of what kind of PC notebook I could get. I like the Mac better. Why is that so hard for people to understand?
